My Trip to Uyo Part 1

My 2020 pandemic experience part1

Never let people's opinions about you define who you are or let their attitude towards you change you to something you are not.

This is a story about my life experiences before the pandemic. So after my Nysc (National Youth Service) in 2019.

I was looking foward to a bright future with my expectation so high above the sky, and my targets and goals stretching towards the stars ✨ with my focus on how to build myself and start up a personal business because I know they are no Job employment in Nigeria and I don't want to be a victim of carrying files up and down and then applying for Jobs I know I won't get at the end of the day.

So with a heavy heart for success and gladness in my heart that I am done with my nysc I began making calls to my very close friends I graduated with and we kept on congratulating ourselves on a successful POP (passing out parade) and then I told my best friend back then in school who's nickname is (Fresh Kid) because he loves looking good and fresh and acting like a baller without money back then when we were still in school.. lol 😂..

Fresh kid did his own Nysc in Uyo, Akwa ibom state and I served in Edo state, edo state was a dry land to me because I served in one of the villages called Sule Camp which is around benin ore express road and the Village has no light or water which was a very terrible experience because I had to always get water from a close by stream, and their major trade over there is Coco export.

So I couldn't see myself as someone who could start up a life in such kind of environment and then when I called my friend Fresh Kid who was in the heart beat of Akwa ibom state (Uyo) which is the Capital he told me it was a wonderful place to start up life and that he wasn't going back to lagos we're he was born and raised because he believed that uyo is the right place for him and then he asked me to come over if I want to, then I told him I won't want to come over to inconvenience him base on accommodation he told me that wasn't a problem because he is living in a 2 bedroom apartment with his brother and a friend who was schooling in Uniuyo.

Getting the news I was so happy that I was short of words and then counting my blessings but the problem I had was that I got no transportation to take me from Edo to Uyo and when I told him about my worries base on my financial situation he promise to send me some money for my transportation and I was so happy, then I called my mom and told her about the opportunity and also that I will be traveling to Uyo to see a friend who told me they was a great opportunity over there for me to start up my life.

My mom as a mother was very skeptical about the whole situation and journey to Uyo and she told me it was best for me to come back home from my place of deployment for serve and take sometime before looking for a job or traveling on a long distance to met a friend she doesn't know.. But I told her it was ok and that my brothers knew my friend because we were all in school together.

The next two days I was already in the park by 7am to Uyo and then I called my friend to inform him that I was on my way to uyo and I am now in a bus and he told me he was waiting for me. It was a smooth journey and I got to uyo in the evening by 6pm and when my friend saw me he was happy and also got to introduce me to his brother and also to his friend who is still a student at Uni Uyo, and then that night they did a welcoming party for me and it was like a dream come through.
