Cuando la vida de las estrellas ha llegado a su fin, ocurren las supernovas, que son explosiones estelares de liberación de energía y elementos químicos en el espacio, a toda velocidad. En el núcleo de las supernovas se crea el oro, y cuando este es liberado junto al resto de elementos, se forman nuevas estrellas y planetas, como ocurrió en la Tierra, hace cientos de miles de años atrás. 1
Quise que mi maquillaje sobre los Recursos Naturales estuviese inspirado en el oro, por lo que este metal precioso significa para mí. Por un lado, me hace pensar en accesorios y joyería eterna, como los zarcillos que mandaron a hacer mis padres con mis dientes de leche. Por otro lado, representa un sueño hecho posible para mí, pues mis padres pagaron una parte de mi carrera universitaria con la venta de la joyería de oro que compraron en su juventud...
Ahora bien, leyendo sobre este recurso natural no renovable, me entristecí un poco. El Oro del planeta Tierra es limitado y esto aumenta su valor. El complejo proceso para extraerlo puede generar grandes impactos en el medio ambiente, los ecosistemas, contaminación del agua y deforestación. Pensé, entonces, que quizás no sería buena idea que mi maquillaje representara eso.
Por suerte, investigué un poco más. Al googlear "Minería responsable" me apareció un enlace para descargar el documento "Principios de la Minería de Oro Responsable" del World Gold Council. Actualmente, se están creando principios y leyes que regulan la actividad económica humana, en la búsqueda de que los intereses personales o nacionales no pasen por encima de personas, comunidades y espacios. Con esta lectura, recuperé mi ilusión inicial.
El oro desempeña un papel único en la economía mundial y en la protección de la seguridad financiera de las naciones, las comunidades y las familias, y en la facilitación de los avances en las tecnologías médicas, ambientales y de comunicación. 2
El proceso creativo detrás del maquillaje implicó investigación, inspiración y la búsqueda de accesorios y maquillaje para proyectar esta idea que tenía en mente de "mujer de oro". Quería representar el oro con algo que luciera muy brillante, con textura. Buscando en tiendas conseguí una bolsa de confeti dorado por solo 1.000 pesos, no dudé en comprarla, ya se me ocurriría más adelante cómo usarlo. Por la noche, practiqué un primer modelo de maquillaje, pero no me convenció. El día siguiente logré la versión definitiva, mi idea inicial, un collar de oro que empieza a subir por las mejillas, como el mismísimo oro de la tierra, pequeño, finito, escaso, y que surge desde el interior. El rostro repleto de brillo, utilizando sombras doradas, delineadores y escarcha.
Empecé el maquillaje al mediodía, sin embargo, colocar este "oro" en mi piel tomó más tiempo del que pensé, la luz natural se estaba yendo... Tomé varias fotografías en casa pero no me convenció la luz, así que decidimos continuar con nuestro plan, visitar el Museo del Oro de Bogotá.
Llegamos al sur de la ciudad al mismo tiempo que el atardecer, tomamos varias fotografías antes de ingresar al Museo del Oro, y finalmente dentro, pudimos tomar algunas más. La iluminación allí no era la mejor, pero me permitió entender la importancia histórica y cultural del Oro. Mejor dicho, fue una iluminación mental. Lo más impresionante de esta visita para mí fue ver cómo el oro sigue siendo utilizado para simbolizar prosperidad, belleza, poder, divinidad... en el pasado y en la actualidad.
El estilismo que escogí pretende representar los orígenes del oro en la oscuridad de la galaxia y, al mismo tiempo, su ubicación actual en el planeta Tierra, en zonas rocosas y profundas. Los accesorios dorados en el cabello, el rostro y las manos destacan sobre el outfit oscuro, que también debía ser abrigado por el clima de la ciudad.
El oro tiene cualidades que lo hacen destacar sobre otros metales, es maleable y, al mismo tiempo, muy resistente... brillante. Sin embargo, lo que más resalta es su singularidad. Esto me lleva a pensar en lo importante que es ser único, auténtico, y reconocer parte de nuestra valía en eso que nos hace completamente distintos a los demás. No en vano se les dice a las personas excepcionales "¡Vales Oro!"

In the core of the supernovae, gold is created, and when it is released along with the rest of the elements, new stars and planets are formed, as happened on Earth, hundreds of thousands of years ago. 1
I wanted my Natural Resources make-up to be inspired by gold, because of what this precious metal means to me. On the one hand, it makes me think of timeless accessories and jewelry, like the earrings my parents had my baby teeth made. On the other hand, it represents a dream come true for me, since my parents paid for part of my college education with the sale of gold jewelry they bought in their youth...
Now, reading about this non-renewable natural resource, I was a little saddened. Gold on planet Earth is limited and this increases its value. The complex process to extract it can generate great impacts on the environment, ecosystems, water pollution and deforestation. I thought, then, that maybe it wouldn't be a good idea for my makeup to represent that.
Luckily, I did a little more research. Googling "Responsible Mining" brought up a link to download the World Gold Council's "Principles of Responsible Gold Mining" document. Currently, principles and laws are being created to regulate human economic activity, in the search that personal or national interests do not override people, communities and spaces. With this reading, I recovered my initial illusion.

**The creative process behind the makeup involved research, inspiration and sourcing accessories and makeup to project this idea I had in mind of a "golden woman". I wanted to represent gold with something that looked very shiny, with texture. Searching in stores I got a bag of gold confetti for only 1,000 pesos, I didn't hesitate to buy it, I would figure out later how to use it. In the evening, I practiced a first makeup model, but it didn't convince me. The next day I achieved the definitive version, my initial idea, a gold necklace that begins to climb up the cheeks, like the very gold of the earth, small, thin, scarce, and emerging from the inside. The face full of glitter, using gold shadows, eyeliners and frost.
I started the makeup at noon, however, placing this "gold" on my skin took longer than I thought, the natural light was going away.... I took several pictures at home but I wasn't convinced by the light, so we decided to continue with our plan, visit the Bogota Gold Museum.
We arrived south of the city at the same time as the sunset, took several pictures before entering the Gold Museum, and finally inside, we were able to take a few more. The lighting there was not the best, but it allowed me to understand the historical and cultural importance of the Gold. Rather, it was a mental enlightenment. The most impressive part of this visit for me was to see how gold is still used to symbolize prosperity, beauty, power, divinity... in the past and today.
The styling I chose is intended to represent the origins of gold in the darkness of the galaxy and, at the same time, its current location on planet Earth, in deep, rocky areas. The golden accessories in the hair, face and hands stand out against the dark outfit, which also had to be warm because of the city weather.
Gold has qualities that make it stand out from other metals, it is malleable and, at the same time, very resistant... shiny. However, what stands out most is its uniqueness. This leads me to think about how important it is to be unique, authentic, and to recognize part of our worth in that which makes us completely different from others. It is not for nothing that exceptional people are told "You are worth gold!".
