Airdumped

Life is so unpredictable; likewise, humans, or let me say, things can take a new turn at any time without prior notice. That's why it's a bad idea to count one's chicks before they hatch. A friend of mine found himself in a difficult situation a few months ago, although it was funny to me because I never imagined him taking the action he took when he had no idea how it would turn out.

A friend of mine named Kenny wanted to celebrate his birthday, but he didn't have enough money to do that. He had an airdrop he had been doing for months in mind, hoping when it yielded good results, he would use the money gotten from it for his birthday but it was a bit delayed. He then decided to take a loan to celebrate his birthday while awaiting the listing of the airdrop. He had always believed himself to be good at predicting but I guess not every day is Christmas.

"Girlie, my birthday is fast approaching, and I don't have any money on me. That will make my birthday this year a bit boring which I don't want it to be as IMO boy (as a man)", Kenny said to me while chatting with him on WhatsApp.

"Big man, in this economy, you are bothered about celebrating your birthday. People don't do birthdays these days, once you can feed and afford basic things you need, you are good to go", I replied.

"Mummy, I know, but yet I have to chill out with my guys and have fun, my birthday is once a year. It's not supposed to be boring, unlike you who don't like celebrating or going out; I'm a man, you know", he continued.

"Okay, the man, ask your guys to contribute money for your birthday; I think that's the only solution, or do you have any means of getting money before then?" I asked.

"Stop that abeg(please). Why would I tell my friends to contribute money for my birthday? That doesn't sound good neither does it add value to me", he quickly replied.

"Then just thank God for another year and face your life, working for a brighter and financially stable future, my advice though", I said.

"There is this airdrop that will be listed soon; it was a bit delayed. If not by now, I would have cashed out big. But I'm sure it will be listed soon, so I'll just take a loan from my banking app, and then when I cash out from the airdrop, I will pay back", Kenny added.

I laughed and said, "Do you think that's a good idea? How sure are you that the airdrop will be listed at a good price, which would be enough for you to pay the loan you are about to borrow?" I asked him, feeling a bit concerned, though it was funny to me.

"You no sabi crypto reach me na,( you are not into crypto as much as I am) so relax, when I tell you something, always believe me," Kenny said and laughed, then ended the chat.

He went ahead to collect the loan and celebrated his birthday just as he wished. Finally, the airdrop got listed but it was dust. The gas fee to claim was more than the total cash out of the airdrop itself. Repaying for the loan he took then became a thug of war, all I could do was laugh at him because I warned him against it before embarking on such.
