THE LAST TIME I SAW YOU

Beatrice allowed the tears flow freely down her cheeks as she watched the priest say his finals words before the body was lowered to the earth. They had promised to be together till eternity but it seems that promise was never going to be accomplished. Her happiness was gone, the one she loved and cherished had embarked on the journey of no returns.

Her remains was found in the apartment of her formal lover.. Beatrice couldn't help but recall what happened the day Bernard, Clara's ex was interrogated.

One week Ago

Both detectives studied the man in the other room closely. Both room was divided with a one-way mirror which enabled them to see the other person in the room without him or her knowing that they were there.

"How about you have this one, I've had a lot of this cases today that I don't think I can interrogate any one else" Detective Larry said to his partner.

"Lazy ass" Detective Jack replied as he exited the room and entered the other room where a man was seated, handcuffed.

"How about you explain your relationship with the missing lady??" the detective asked. He watched as the dirty smirk that has been on the man's face for a while slowly fades away.

"She was the love of my life. We were going to get married and have beautiful kids until one day, when she woke up and decided she was into girls now. Clara left me for another woman. Do you know how humiliating that was?

The detective noticed he was waiting for his reply and answered “No I don't” “When was the time you last saw her?"

"The last time i saw her was in my dreams" he laughed "It was on a Thursday, She had returned to pick the rest of her stuff but somehow we ended up making passionate love to each other. But then, she attempted to leave. How could she? How could she leave after what we had, after what we just shared? There was no way it was going to happen. ” he ended, the dirty smile still registered on his face.

"And you made sure of that?”

He shrugged.

“And this all happened in a dream, correct?”

“Yes detective.. It was all a dream” he replied and resumed his laughter.

“He's crazy, probably on drugs too.” Detective Larry said as his partner walked up to him in the other room.

“He is crazy, but there's something about that dream that doesn't sound like a dream at all” Jack pondered.

And so they had gone to Bernard's place and discovered the remains of Clara there. He had placed her in a freezer in other to preserve her body.

More tears rolled down Beatrice cheeks as she remembered the last time she saw the once beautiful Clara.
