Mom this new apartment of ours looks and sounds creepy said Joyce, look dear it's okay and nice you are just a little bit scared cause It's your first time and it's normal not to be comfortable in a new place, mostly in a desert street like this but trust me baby Mom is here for you ok, alright mom I get you now.
A shadow hurriedly passed by as a hugged mom , I began to hear my creepy voice but I thought it was my imagination. I hit my head with my palm and smirked and said to myself it's fine.
Joyce was the only daughter and child of her family, she lost her father some years ago in a plane crash and has been living with her mom alone since then.
Her mom got transferred to her place of work and had to relocate to another state and got an apartment with her daughter so as to live a peaceful life.
Joyce on the other hand didn't like the idea of locating but had no other choice since it was for her mom's business. She said to herself and she packed her luggages saying " I will miss my friends' ' as she got to the rack of trophies she has won for the school. She shed some tears because it reminded her of her late father. Thanks to her Dad's training and enough time to spare with her. She became the best in all types of sporting activities like athletics, football game, basketball,lawn tennis,tennis,golf, playing.she had won lots of awards for her school just at the age of sixteen.
Joyce is a type of girl who loves everyone irrespective of who they are and how they look.she is bold,calm,jovial and full of fun.
Joyce took her luggages up the stairs and as she kept walking on the stairs,she felt a dark shadow behind her and each time she turned back,she felt she was imagining things.
She got to her bed and checked the time and she saw it was almost midnight. The journey was so stressful and boring with no friends or neighbours to talk to.
Tha atmosphere of the house began to change as the clock struck 10:00 am. Immediately there was a whirl wind blowing the curtains up and down and the fluorescent began to blink nonstop. This made her scream and run out of her room to her mom's room and banged heavily on the door till her mother opened up.
She rushed into her mom's room and began to narrate what happened, still shivering. Her mom calmed her down and told her nothing was wrong, she was also worried that was why she was thinking about it. Her mom told her to sleep over in the room and patted her until she fell asleep.
The next morning,she woke up and told her mom" I don't want to stay in this house alone because you will be going to work leaving only me at home".
Her mum shut her up saying"it is not as easy as you think Joyce'' . Joyce left for the dining room feeling sad there after her mom came down to join her . They had their breakfast and her mom left for work leaving a strict instruction saying "I must not find you outside since you are not familiar with the new environment" and she left her at home. She felt bad and bored because she has no phone or video games.
She then decided to sit and think of what to do. Her mind flashed back to yesterday's incident then she decided to do some research about the house . She went into the basement where she found some books and other properties which were not theirs. Out of her curiosity, she read some of the books she took out from a dusty chest in the basement.
She took them out to the sitting room and decided to read them there. She began to read effortlessly but stopped when she heard some voices in the backyard. She hurriedly rushed to the backyard and met some kids playing but we're avoiding their apartment. She came out neglecting her mom's order .
She went to meet them and asked why they were avoiding their Apartment. Unfortunately, the kids got frightened and ran away. She was curious but she went into the house looking unhappy. As she was about to leave the house, she felt a hand holding her skirt. She turned to see a small cute kid, and she smiled at him and he returned the smile. She felt the cute smile. He dragged her to another place close to her apartment and showed her his house. She told him " yea besides I just moved in" and he ran to call his other friends who were hiding and he whispered something to them. Without hesitation, they all ran to her.
They explained that her place was haunted that an old woman was murdered in that place and since then no one could go and come out alive after spending three mid night in her house because the old woman spirit is still wandering and wish to take revenge on any human spotted in the house after three midnight. They told me to stay awake by midnight and my mom also and go into hiding till Dawn and we should leave the apartment the following day.
The children left and she ran inside instantly and she heard the horn of her mom's car and started thinking about the way to keep her mom awake and she finally came up with a plan. By twelve she went to her mom's room by 12 am and she began some questioning which her mom hated. She got angry and left the room to move to a more silent room which was the perfect hideout. Joyce came in and joined her mother there. Afterwards,she began to see mysterious things happening, they got scared and her mom was about to scream but she held her mom's hand without hesitation.
We hid there till dawn. The wandering spirit couldn't find us so we left with some luggages leaving the bulky luggages as we fled for the safety of their lives. I kept pondering over the incident as we left the city. Joyce's mom couldn't believe what she saw and never knew that kind of thing happens in modern times.
