Life in Phases ~ Ink Well Prompt #117 Contest

Marva is a young lady whose love for chocolate started from childhood. She loved the sweetness of chocolates and how it made her feel whenever she took them. Going a day without taking chocolates is starving herself for that day.

She craves so much for it that even at her bed corners bars of chocolates are littered. It was getting out of control but no one could stop her because she was already addicted to eating it.

One day, while laying on the couch watching a business TV show, a thought of running her own business crossed her mind. "I love chocolates but I don't know the recipes and how to make it. To start a chocolate shop, I need to learn the art," she communed with herself on the couch.

She informed her family on her new found joy and decision. They supported her dream of running a chocolate store financially. This was how Marva left her city for MedLand. Medland is the best city with the biggest chocolate factory where many who want to learn the art go.

Getting to MedLand was a great experience for Marva. She enrolled and began classes on how to make chocolates. At the course of the classes, she met Alex, a co-lover of chocolate who had been in the learning process before Marva. They became friends and their friendship grew in love as they took it to another level.

Years later, they graduated from the chocolate making classes. Being lovers, they decided to work together and run a chocolate shop in a busy and cozy country.

"My hometown Arak city is a place you would love. I grew up there and I must tell you everyone loves chocolate but we don't have any chocolate stores there."

"Coping without chocolate shops around would be difficult. Let me ask, I know you love chocolate like I do, how did you cope?"

"Ha ha ha. I travel to where I can get bars of chocolates on a weekly basis and whenever I do, I get quantities that would last for months."

"Interesting, I no longer need explanations on what pushed you to MedLand to learn the art," Marva said.

They both went to Arak City, they planned and opened their own chocolate shop. The citizens loved the sweet aromas of their chocolates. Gradually, their store began to gain recognition as they began having customers coming to have a taste of their sweet and mouth watering chocolate.

Marva and Alex were happy to see the growth of the shop and they were living happily together. One day, a chocolate making competition was organized. This was an opportunity for small businesses to gain recognition and flourish. Alex and Marva participated and won the competition as the taste of their chocolate became the talk of the city.

Marva's parents, hearing how famous their daughter has become, were proud and happy they supported her dream. With the recognition their store had gained, the demands of chocolates increased. They became so busy with orders, delivery, quarreling and disagreement was all they get daily. Seeing the relationship was falling apart, Alex suggested they take some time off to get back together.

They booked a flight to another country where they relaxed and enjoyed each other. They spent days having fun. Going to the museum, zoo, hiking, cinema, poking and a sweet night with a hot bath. This experience reminded them how they met, what brought them together and again their love for each other rekindled.

Few days to return to Arak City, something happened. Cuddling together on the Sofa watching TV, Alex's phone rang and he pressed the receive button and Mia, his friend's voice, was heard in the background.

"Bro, If you are close to your TV, tune to channel 24." The line went dead as Mia ended the call. Alex changed the channel to find out what the news could be.

The Arak City was in a fierce dispute with their neighboring town which resulted in fighting. This fight led to the breakdown of property. Places were set ablaze and Alex and Marva's shop weren't left out. The news got them hopeless and frustrated because their effort and dream have been destroyed.

They were so heartbroken as they saw their years of hard work, growth, fame and dreams down to dust. The frustration left them blaming each other.

"If only you Arak City was out of the lists of places we could start up our chocolate store."

"This is uncalled for Marva, this is not time to find faults or who said and who did."

"Think of what? This disaster has tainted the sorrow of what we have lost. Don't you feel the same? I don't have any business with Arak city and you again," she said angrily in pain as she packed and left the room.

Leaving Alex sad and speechless.

"Was the chocolate store the thing keeping us together?" He asked rhetorically in shock.

Marva returned to her hometown and never spoke to Alex again. The feeling of what they lost was buried in Marva forever.
