Some time later, Francine woke up and and she went to the kitchen where her parents watched the news about a great pollution of the sea, near the fishery as a result of the waste from the industry. "This is the answer to my question, the girl thought."
Years passed and Francine became a young lady, she studied and graduated with honors from nursing school. In her spare time, she volunteered for the Red Cross in her city. His great-grandfather Toñito had passed away and all his thoughts and advice about nature stayed in Francine's heart and head.

"Erramos en pensar que podíamos frenarla, erramos en creer que con nuestra fuerza podíamos controlarla. No quisimos entender que cuando ella se siente herida puede ser malvada e implacable...
Nos hemos equivocado en todo acerca de ella!!" Estas frases se repetían una y otra vez en la cabeza de Francine, mientras se colocaba la mascarilla y los guantes para salir al centro médico en el cual había sido ubicada a raíz de la gran pandemia.
En la ciudad donde Francine residía a principios de la década de los 80's, había una industria pesquera mediana en la cual se trataba el pescado fresco para ser procesado y enlatado y luego ser vendido. Desde muy niña ella sentía mucha curiosidad por lo que pasaba dentro de esa empresa y lo que hacían con la gran cantidad de pescado que allí entraba. Tiempo después, la escuela programó una visita guiada en la cual conocerían la más grande industria de su ciudad, la causante de la gran prosperidad de la que para ese entonces ellos gozaban. Ese día sería genial, pero ella no podía quedarse con esa estupenda noticia, tenía que compartir la con su bisabuelo Antonio (Toñito para los más cercanos a él).
Amaneció el día sábado y Francine se levantó muy temprano para visitar a su bisabuelo Toñito quien vivía un pueblo pequeño, lleno de riachuelos en los que, desde muy niña, solía jugar. Este pueblito estaba muy cerca de la ciudad y se llamaba "Río Chico". Era temporada de lluvia y como siempre, su bisabuelo se encargaba de limpiar una quebrada que estaba muy cerca de donde él vivía. Él solía decir _"el ser humano ya no escucha a la naturaleza, el hombre no se cansa de quitar espacio al río, de éste solo queda esta quebrada y debo mantenerla limpia porque no sé en que momento el río quiera volver a pasar por allí".
Francine finalmente llegó y su bisabuelo la recibió con gran alegría. Ella no pudo aguantar y de un grito le lanzó la gran noticia, -¡abuelito, el lunes conoceré la industria pesquera!- Toñito la cargo, la puso sobre sus piernas, la miro y le dijo:-"Presta atención a cada información y si tienes alguna duda, ¡Pregunta! No te vayas a casa con dudas en tu cabeza.
El tan esperado lunes llegó, ese día los niños de 5to grado "B" no irían a la escuela sino que se encontrarían en el gran portón de la Pesquera. A cada niño se le entregó un brazalete de color verde, por aquello de que "el color verde es el que representa la naturaleza". Como eran 15 niños en total, hicieron grupos de 5 y se turnaban para hacer el recorrido. A pesar de que no era lo que ella pensaba, la visita fue interesante. Al final del recorrido, la niña preguntó al amable señor que les guiaba en el recorrido, _"¿Dónde caen las aguas residuales y desperdicios que quedan después de todo el proceso? El hombre con una sonrisa la tomó de la mano y sin responder a la pregunta, dijo: "El tour terminó niños, fue grato tenerlos de visita"
Tiempo después Francine despertó y sus padres escuchaban la noticia acerca de una gran contaminación del mar, cerca de la pesquera a consecuencia de los desechos que de la industria. Esta es la respuesta a mi pregunta, pensó la niña.
Pasaron los años y Francine se hizo una señorita, ella estudió y se graduó con honores en la escuela de enfermería. En su tiempo libre prestaba servicios como voluntaria en la Cruz roja de su ciudad. Su bisabuelo Toñito había fallecido y con ella habían quedado todos sus consejos y pensamientos acerca de la naturaleza.
A principios del año 2020 el río que una vez fue una quebrada, retomó su curso llevándose todo lo que se encontraba a su paso. Esa fue una de las tragedias más grandes vividas en esa ciudad porque, no solo se llevó propiedades materiales sino que también se llevó la vida de muchas personas.
Francine quien nunca olvidó las palabras sencillas pero sabias de su bisabuelo, recordó cuando él le decía que "la naturaleza nunca se queda con nada, si le regalas una semilla, ella te dará a cambio un rico fruto o una hermosa flor. Pero si la maltratamos, debemos tener por seguro que la respuesta va a ser fuerte y contundente."
