MOMENTS OF REFLECTION

I would lay on my bed in the room making sure the lights are turned off. First because I do not like lights and next because I think and relax better in the dark to just calm myself and do, as I call it, a redefinition.

I had grown up to make it a daily routine. A sort of detox and refill time.
I realized that once a while it is imperative that I take a pause and do some deep reflection. Like the peace it brings, I get a chance to review all or most of my past activities, make plans towards the next and generally make
adjustments. Even a car on a journey stops at some point for gas or to just cool or to get checked. I cannot keep going on and on without those little critical moments of self checks.

It started and became a habit at a time I can’t recall correctly. I guess some not so cool time back then made me pick it up. In my memory, I will sieve through everything I
had done, taking note of the wins and losses and lessons and also making plans ahead for the time in front.

A dark calm room, some cool music, a cold shower, these little things have been of help to me and haven embraced and made for myself a habit of writing, whatever comes to
mind just as unfiltered as it comes. I get to learn me better and
understand the dynamics of my affairs.

Have you noticed that there's this attachment between sad times and reflection? At one point in my
life, I realized that I only waited for things to go sour before I self-reflect.
That did not make sense to me. I had to make a turn. So far, I know to note how well I followed my schedule, where I derailed, new stuff I learned, what I did so well and lessons I picked, how much I spent and my overall attitude each day.

One thing this habit has done for me is growing my spirit of discernment and helping me stay calm and in line.
