Opeyemi walked out on his mum and her sister, Mama Adegeye slammed the door and left the house.
Opeyemi!!! Come back here, Mama Adegeye yelled at him but the stubborn boy already left the house snd refused to go back inside. His mother wasn’t surprised because he has done worse to her and even his sisters.
Mama Adegeye, do you now see what I’ve been telling you? Have you now confirmed that Opeyemi’s case is becoming more than what I can handle?, his mum asked Mama Adegeye. The old woman could not a say a word because she was surprised to see her sister’s son walk out on them. Maybe that felt like the greatest shocker.
Everyday, Opeyemi made sure that he makes his mother raise her voice unnecessarily. Opeyemi provokes his mum intentionally. As for Opeyemi’s mum, the thirty nine year old single mother is looking more older than her age and every week, she visits Beulah hospital to check her blood pressure and get her weekly drugs.
One Saturday, she could not meet up with her hospital appointment so she chose to go on Sunday. Everything went fine as usual until she got home. Mama Opeyemi banged the gate for about five minutes before her son came out to open to gate.
Where are your sisters?, she asked Opeyemi while trying to look for them around the compound.
Old woman, I said you should never ask me about those girls again. They’re not my sister and I’m not your son!, he said to his mum and went straight inside the house. Mama Opeyemi was shocked. She could not move for a few seconds. She didn’t even believe her ear. She never thought her son would ever say such to her.
The girls got inside the compound and saw their mother crying. They didn’t even ask what had happened because they were sure that Opeyemi would be the reason why she was crying.
Mum, I kkow Opeyemi has done something wrong again. Just let him be and I know Shalewa and myself will make you proud, Islamiat said to her mother while wiping off her tears then hugged her. The girls took their mother inside and ignored Opeyemi, the stubboen boy.
Maam Opeyemi always make sure that she satifies her son with all that he needs. She gives him the biggest meat from the pot, takes him to a better school and even the one which is more expensive than his sister’s and even gives him extra money to buy all that he needs but the boy isn’t changing.
Every night, Mama Opeyemi goes into her son’s room to ask him why he’s being stubborn and even moving with bad boys on the street.
Opeyemi, I’m your mother and I won’t lie to you. I feel very bad about you telling me horrible words but I still love you because you’re my son. Why don’t you ever treat me well? Have I done something wrong to you and didn’t apologize? If there is, let me know and I’d apologize, Mama Opeyemi said to her son but this time, he did something different.
Opeyemi turned his face to the other side of the wall and ignored his mum. She sadly left his room and got to her room to cry. She cried like a baby. She said so many negative words to herself. She regretted eveb being Opeyemi’s mother. She slept that way and refused to take her hypertension drugs.
On the next morning, the kids were surprised that their mother wasn’t up yet. Islamiat entered the room to check on their mum but she was found dead.
Yeeeee. Help me!!!, Islamiat screamed and rushed to the living room. She ran back into the room to confirm if their mother was truly dead. It was true. She picked up her mum’s phone to call Mama Adegeye.
You said what?, Mama Adegeye screamed on phone after hearing that her younger sister was dead. She rushed to their house and even wore two different slippers unknowingly.
When she got there, she met some elders of their family and the most shocking thing to her was that Opeyemi was crying.
Isn’t this the boy who doesn’t like his mum? Now, she’s dead and why are you crying?, she asked and wanted to move close to him to spank him but was stopped by the elders of the family who were present there.
I’m sorry ma. It’s not my fault and all the treatments I give my mum wasn’t intentional. I started doing that after I saw my mum with another man inside her room. I never liked it and I promised myself that I was going to provoke her, Opeyemi said while sobbing and regretting his actions.
Why didn’t you tell her about it? She’s a single mother and no more with your dad so she can do whatever she wants. Now, you finally gave an answer to the question that we have always been asking you, including your late mother. I pray your mum rests in peace, one of the family elders said while looking directly into Opeyemi’s face.
The sisters were still shocked and Islamiat even fainted for about three times. The deed has been done. Mama Opeyemi was buried and all the kids including Opeyemi moved into Mama Adegeye’s house where they were taken care of.
