Duvel, a beer to enjoy during the weekend!

Even though I couldn’t make a picture of how it’s looking in the glass (didn’t want to drink it because I just finished a quite hard training and there’s more to come this week) I couldn’t resist to make a post about this great beer. I’m sure, if you’re a beer lover, you’ll find it around, cause currently it’s been exported in 60 countries.

I’ve been inspired to make this post by a Hiver telling that she had this special gift and couldn’t wait to drink it… It was a Heineken “beer”. I’m always happy with gifts, but I’m not sure what I’d do with a Heineken Beer if I’d receive it ;-)

A Duvel from Brewery Moortgat is probably one of the best beers in the world. You’d need to drink it carefully, because with 8,5% alcohol it’s not a light summer drink. On the contrary: Duvel is a beer to enjoy, with something to eat, or not, but definitely with nice company… or… not… I actually like to enjoy one on my own as well 

The history of this beer goes back to 1871 in a small brewery in Puurs (Belgium) and is now being brewed in the 4th generation. It probably has been improved over the years and recently there are quite some derivated products, but hey, isn’t the original always the best?

Duvel needs to be drunken from a Duvel glass. Try it and you’ll see that the taste is not the same as from a different glass. Great idea from the third generation Duvel brewers which have introduced this big tulip shaped glass – the whole 33cl beer fits - which allows the drinker to enjoy fully the aroma and the flavour of this beer that continues to fermentate after botteling. The curves towards the top of the glass maintain the carbonation and the foam, part of the degustation of this special beer.

Now I’ll go to sleep, before I'd change my mind and drink it anyway…
Cheers!
