In principle, we must explain to the children the concept of wisdom, we must tell them that it is a group of knowledge that can be acquired by studying and practicing the teachings, tell them that the only way to be wise is to do the right thing, to perform actions that do not affect or negatively or harm other people.

The first point I would comment to the children is selfishness, that constant attitude of refusing to share what you have to spare with others, whether it is a person close to you or not.

We must tell them clearly that we have all been selfish, and that the behavior of always thinking of oneself above others and taking advantage of the weaknesses of those around us; that is, being selfish, is a consequence of a gene, (which is scientifically proven).

However, the human being is also friendly and supportive so we must help others because being considerate and seek the good of people in a selfless way makes us better people. For all this we must share, love our fellow men, and often put ourselves in the place of another person who needs our help.

If a classmate needs a pencil to take a test, and I have two, I should lend one for him to take his test. Likewise, if I have extra food at home and we know of people who don't have any, we should share it, as this would help them in some way to subsist.

The second piece of advice I would give to children is that they should listen to other people and consider their opinions by learning from others, as long as these teachings do not go against what they are being taught at home, and measuring whether or not they can harm others.

Once a boy told another boy that he crossed the street but he thought he could do it at a green light because he was a fast runner. Almost reaching the sidewalk in front of him a vehicle came and ran over him, he was taken to the hospital, the blow was not very strong but he fractured his foot, so he was in a cast for more than a month. Because of all this, you should only cross the street when the light is green for walkers, said the boy.

The idea of this story is that one child listens to the experience of another and learns to cross the street without running and only when the traffic light indicates it.

The third piece of advice is to learn from your mistakes, to see the consequences of your actions and to realize what you did wrong so you can correct it. I must tell them that the bad thing about acting impulsively without thinking about the consequences of their actions is that they can cause pain, discomfort in another person, and there is also the possibility of generating an aggressive response.

It is important to make mistakes because this allows you to do things by yourself and do it well, it is also the opportunity to do new things. A child should be encouraged to recognize his mistakes, to ask for forgiveness and to forgive himself, and then focus on finding a solution.

As we grow up and have experiences in life, we become wiser, gratitude, sharing with others, loyalty, listening to others, and learning from our mistakes are tools and values that strengthen us and make us wiser every day.

This is my participation this week in the initiative hosted by galenkp@galenkp called Weekend Topics: WEEK 172 Link Here.

You're asked to give a classroom of ten year old children three relevant points of wisdom - What are they and why?

Happy Weekend to all.
