ATTENDING A CHRISTMAS FOOD AND ARTS FESTIVAL

Every year in my state, a food and art festival is organized by some young people and after attending last year’s edition, I made a promise to myself to attend this year.

The premise of this event is to help promote small businesses in our state while bringing people together and it is held for three days.

Before the festival, I had made plans with my friends to attend so we already kept money aside to get tickets and food and we were simply just anticipating the event.

DAY ONE

Day one of the event started really dry, I and my friend decided to meet up at her house and we moved out from there but on getting to the venue we were thoroughly disappointed because of the turn-up, apparently, they had technical issues so most people that came immediately left.

We contemplated also leaving but since I knew the organizers, I proposed that we should wait it out for some hours so we spent our time walking around and buying foods from the vendors available.

After a few hours, we decided to also leave because the event wasn’t getting better but since our tickets covered the three days, we planned to come back on the last day.

DAY TWO

Attending day two wasn’t part of the plan but at about 2 pm I received a call from my boss saying that he was in town and wanted to fill me in about my internship so I hurriedly rushed to the venue.

On getting to the venue I was pleasantly surprised because it was way better than the first day, I proceeded to meet my boss up, we discussed and he left because he was traveling back but I decided to stay back after seeing a few people I knew.

The event was pretty amazing on this day, we enjoyed music, people came to dance, we got free drinks from Guinness which was one of the sponsors and I beat up my friends in a board game.

DAY THREE

I really didn’t plan on attending day three because I had church in the evening but because my friends were going I succumbed and we all went.

We got to the venue and there were barely any seats and I figured that it was because of the free entry on this day and also because most people just attended the event after church.

We found a place to sit after struggling a bit and I would say this day was the best because there were a lot of activities like a runway show, dance competitions, and also a lot of performances from state artists.

I also saw a lot of people I knew and practically had to hide from a few, and when it got to time for church, I had to drag myself out of the venue.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I would say that I enjoyed the event if not for anything, for the simple fact that a lot of youths were involved in it and it felt like an empowerment to the youths in our state.

I also enjoyed trying the food in the venue even though I ended up spending way more than I should have, I feel like it was worth it since I was supporting small businesses.

Lastly, I enjoyed just leaving my house because I struggle with going out a lot and it is something I certainly want to improve on so it was a good motivation to go out.

I am looking forward to going to more places this festive season and I will most likely attend next year’s edition if I am still in my state.
