Hi there Hivers!
I've been bringing this euphoria of the whole week of work. Still in awe as we (together with hiking buddies) continue our weekly travel and bonds. And I'm about to tell you how was it going. Well, we have just visited a historical cave, located at Somosa, Tabogon. Let us together discover A Hidden Gem Under The Ground. Let's go!
From our residences, we traveled a few kilometers just to be here in a certain cave called Ka Sisong Cave specifically at Purok Pading, Somosa. Our starting point of hiking was in front of the school of Don Esteban wherein there's a certain path leading to the cave.
Start Hiking 🥾🥾
This has been my medicine for the past weeks of joining this group. My mood swings had changed, the endurance of walking getting tougher, the health benefits of sweating a lot, and rejuvenated myself every time we did this.
Our tour guide today is a bonafide citizen of this place and our colleague, Sir Mark Kim. While walking, he talked about his past experiences with this place. During his high school years, together with his classmates, they usually eat their lunch in the upper ground of their school. Now, it has been fastened with barbed wires so students can't get away from school.
When we arrived at Purok Pading, Sir Mark Kim had a hard time finding the way to the cave since it was 2014 when he last visited this place. Gladly, his uncle leads us to this small shrub way. How determined are we? Well, we get in without hesitation, and on my mind, what if there's a snake? On my other mind, let's set aside that query.
It's Sir Mark Kim who lead us the way since he brought bolo with him. I enjoyed this exploration because I learned a lot.
The Cave
We're here! Oh, I thought it was only a big rock with a small opening. Wait, it's a cave!
Sir Mark Kim tried to check the area. He uses a flashlight to brighten the dark inside. Again, a cowardly self tried to scare my other side. There are what ifs on my mind. As soon as our tour guide got in, he tried to convince us to be fearless. When Ma'am Smile get in, I, too went in and followed by Rixie and Ma'am Marfe.
As soon as my eyes shift to this dark cave, I tried to gaze everywhere and my eyes couldn't believe what was in front of me! It's haven!
This is my first time to witness this kind of adventure. Also, my first time entering a cave. Infinite WOW I always uttered. I tried to feel every detail of the rock, its sharpness seems delicate however it's the opposite, it's rock indeed.
From the deafening sound of silence, I could barely hear the droplets of water coming from the ceiling. I was amazed by how it formed for a long time, it is called an icicle. As I touched the water, it was clear and cold.
The ceiling of the cave is called stalactites, it is formed due to the dripping of the water comes from the upper ground. The roughness of the ceiling made me realize that we should not judge its physical appearance hence we have to dig or be involved. When I touched it, it's not that rough, it's thick and smooth. Our nature is unique as we are, everything is designed with a purpose.
On its ground, there we found stalagmites, it was made over years due to the water coming from the ceiling. The moist stalagmites made a muddy part of the cave, when I went down, I was nearly bumped into some rocks and got a tiny wound.
Other parts were shiny and shimmered a lot which captures my attention, good thing there are no people who came here to get those gems.
I went down and captures everything hoping I could have a good shot despite the dark. Every shot I always use the flashlight, and look! What do you think is that? Because when I reviewed my pictures at home I doubt that it was a snake? Hope it's not. I think snakes can't live here due to its humid atmosphere. When we are inside, we couldn't dry our sweat. It's always dripping like water from the ceiling.
After exploring the cave, we never got outside yet, instead, Sir Mark Kim had a story for us. During the striking typhoon in the early years, people used to temporarily live here. It serves as their refuge when nothing to turn to. Before, people used to come here because across the cave has another cave where also people used to visit. As I glanced at it, I had goosebumps! Swear. He invited us to go there since there was a way down, however, we declined😅. Enough is enough😅.
Now, it's time to get outside and breathe the fresh air brought by nature. It's always refreshing every time I feel and inhale the fresh and clean air from rural.
That's it for today Hivers! Hope you had a great time reading and together we explored the cave. Thank you and Goodbye!
