Hello Hivers, Welcome to my #LakwatsaniIntoy Diary 047 | Enchanting Banyan Spring Resort of Tabogon Cebu, Philippines. Our exploration in Northern Cebu is not yet over, Today let me share with you in this blog a known spring on the island of Cebu Philippines. Come Let's explore the enchanting Banyan Spring Resort.
Last Saturday, July 29, 2023, after our Hive Onboarding Orientation in Tabogon, We did amazing side trips to nearby tourist attractions together with @ybanezkim26 and @indayclara. One of the itineraries we have is the Banyan Spring which is 10 minutes only from the venue of the orientation. Supposedly the Teacher Bloggers of Cebu North will be joining us on this part but they have scheduled important things to attend.
Banyan Spring Resort
Banyan Cold Spring also known as Guiwanon Cold Spring is one of the talks in Cebu Island, it is considered as one of the best cold springs in the Philippines. Its crystal-clear water makes the spring magical, enticing, and enchanted.
It features pools divided by small concrete as a barrier and it has an ancient Balete Tree or Banyan Tree beside the six feet deep pool. And that's why this place is named Banyan Spring Resort. The place is indeed refreshing and its pristine blue water is o inviting and perfect for taking a dip. It is a great place, you should check this out, especially in summer, I'm assure you will cool off in this place.
Location
The Spring is Exactly located in Maslog Tabogon Cebu. From Cebu City, you can ride from North Bus Terminal going to Tabogon for three hours, then drop off at Maslog, and ride a Habal-Habal that will bring you to Banyan Spring Resort. It's along the road only and it's easily accessible.
Before entering you will see a signage of information and some rules of the resort. You should check it to be guided about the place.
Information and some Regulations:
- Open Daily: 7:00 am to 5:00 pm (cut off visitor is 4:00 pm)
- Entrance Fee
-Adult 150 pesos (3$)
-Child 100 pesos (2$) - No pets allowed
- Brining of Butane and Gas stoves are not allowed
Upon Entering this huge gate, a wide open space for parking will welcome you, They have enough area for your vehicle when you visit, we didn't see a parking fee signage I guess it's free for visitors. Then you need to register first in this registration both and pay for entrance fee in the cashier area. And walk for 2 minutes and get down these stairs that will bring you on this enchanting Spring.
We arrived at this place by 1:30 pm , a huge crowd surprised us when we are in the spring area, we never expect this number of visitor, and almost all area of the spring was occupied. Honestly, I donβt like too much crowd when visiting a place like this, because I want to capture its true beauty. But, we donβt have a choice this time cause we visited on the wrong day and time.
I think the best time to visit this place is in the early morning between Monday β Friday when everyone is busy.
Inside, they have a shower area for the visitor to use after swimming, and they have a grilling area, just in case you want to grill some foods such as fish, marinated porks, and others. They also have tables and chairs for rent for 4$ only. If you have some belongings and food you can rent it for your things. But if you just go there for quick swimming you can suit yourself beside the spring.
After a few minutes when we arrived and place our things down. We roam around first before swimming. We start where the Banyan tree is located and the source of the spring is suited.
The source is isolated, swimmers are not allowed on this part. It is a small pool where you will enchant by its crystal-clear blue water. You will see the bottom part of the spring and you will find also here some big fish roaming freely. Behind this spring is a small forest that makes the area refreshing.
We really love this spot of the resort, aside from the clear water, you will also feel the vibe of nature.
Then we go to the two other pools where the visitor can enjoy swimming. People are having fun around, swimming, diving, and snorkeling. This place is perfect for family outings. One pool is six feet deep the other one is 4 feet where children can swim. Kids will love this place for sure.
The spill-off of the spring in the last pool is directly toward the ocean. If you feel to swim in salt water you can go beyond the mangrove area of the resort. Reminder, the current from the source is a little bit strong you can be swiped by its current if you go near it, so be careful when approaching the area.
After roaming around, we change, get ready for swimming and start deepening in the spring. We stay long at the six feet pool where the Banyan Tree and the source are located. The water is not too cold as I expected and we find out it is not pure fresh water. This Cold spring had brackish water, a combination of salt and fresh water. So expect a little salty when you deep in.
The water is undeniably clear. We enjoy swimming and diving at the bottom of it. We find some shells and saw some tiny fishes around. The shoots from Clara's go pro capture it nicely so check out for @indayclara's post about this one.
We stay here for almost 2 hours and head to the resort we stay overnight. Overall our experience this spring is a blast. We discover and learn a lot about this spring and finally, we make an acquaintance with this known Banyan Spring/Guiwanon Spring of Cebu.
That's it for this blog about this Enchanting Banyan Spring of Tabogon Cebu, Philippines. Hope you find a new place to explore Cebu Island. Thank you for joining me on this weekend travel experience.
