It was one fine Saturday when we decided to go on a ferry boat ride to Lapu-lapu City. It was a random decision we had because we had nothing to do for the weekend.
Inside the Modern Jeepney
From my apartment, we rode a 17B jeepney going to the Cebu City Metropolitan Cathedral where the jeepneys headed to Cebu City Port # 3 passes by.
Outside the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral
We reached the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral and headed to the jeepney stopover. It was a weekend and there were so many people at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. During Sundays, I often attend the mass here as well.

afternoon as well and the weather was perfect.

Here in Cebu City, Philippines, public transportations such as jeepneys has codes as to where it is headed to. From the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, we rode a 12-I jeepney to the Port #3 of Cebu City. Cebu City Port # 3 is where the ferry boat is going to Lapu-Lapu City.
Department of Public Works and Highways Region 7
We arrived at the 3rd Port of Cebu City. In the corner of the street you will see the office of the Department of Public Works and Highways Cebu City. They are the ones incharge of public works, streets, high ways and so much more. We then went in the Cebu City Port #3. Cebu City has five major ports. Locally known as : "Pier Uno", "Pier Dos", "Pier Tres", "Pier Kwatro" and "Pier Singko". Each ports have designated locations where the ships will be headed to.
When going to Lapu-lapu City, you need to ride a ferry boat going there. You also have the option to ride a jeepney, or a van from SM Cebu City but we chose the scenic route and decided to take a ride with the ferry boat. It is nice to see the ocean sometimes and grasp a breathe of fresh air.
The Ticket Booth
You will see excited faces of the people falling in line in the ticket booth. Most of the people are carrying their luggages and things to be probably brought home in their provinces or perhaps take a vacation somewhere.
Pasalubong Center
Here in the Philippines, it is part of our culture that ones we visit our loved ones and friends, we bring them a "pasalubong". A pasalubong is like a gift or something you give them most commonly foods or delicacies from places you have been to. Here in the Cebu City Port #3, is a "Pasalubong Center" where there are a lot of options for tourists and travellers to choose from.
Ticket Booth to Lapu-Lapu City
Lapu-lapu City is known as "Opon". When getting a ticket all the way there, these are the prices:
• Regular Passengers : ₱35.00
• Students : ₱28.00
• Persons with Disabilities / Students/ Children : ₱25.00
The ferry boat ride is available from six thirty in the morning until eight in the evening. To get the discounts, one must present his or her identification card.
Happy Faces
This is the main entrance of the 3rd Port of Cebu City. People may be all stressed out but most of them are wearing some smiles in their faces as they are finally headed to their dream destination.
Terminal Fee
We paid ₱35.00 each for our ferry boat fare. Then, another ₱2.00 each for the terminal fee. These fees are for the terminal maintenance.
Ferry Boat
Here is the photo of our ride. It is approximately a twenty to twenty five ride from the third port of Cebu City to Lapu-Lapu City. How I love to go on boat rides. The sound of the waves just gives me so much peace.
Good bye Cebu City, Hello Lapu-lapu City!
The ferry boat got full and we then headed to our destination. One thing I like about ferry boat rides aside from the sound of the waves and the breathe of fresh air, is that compared to riding a jeepney, riding a ferry boat is a less hassle because there is no traffic. For me, it is more convenient rather than riding public utility vehicles.
Welcome Signage
Upon arriving the port of Lapu-lapu City, both local and international tourists are welcomed by a signage in the port entrance.
Nuestra Señora De Regla Parish National Shrine Lapu-lapu City
As a Roman Catholic, what is a visit to Lapu-Lapu City if you will not drop by at the Nuestra Señora De Regla Parish National Shrine? I always pay a visit here everytime I visit Lapu-Lapu City. There was no mass that time so we just lit a candle and said a little prayer.
September 2022 with my college classmates
The last time I was here was during Septebr 2022 when we did a "Visita Iglesia" with my college classmates because we were about to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers that time. It is my first time coming back here as a Licensed Professional Teacher. I am indeed thankful for the answered prayer.
Local Goodies Outside Church
We got a little hungry so we ate snacks. The first photo is a man making an "ube piaya" a local Filipino delicacy which is very famous in the locality. On the second and third photo is another Filipino delicacy called "dinangdang", grilled banana with white sugar and margarine. These foods are all so nostalgic. I haven't had these for a long time.
Reunited with my Grandmother
After church, we went to the market and bought some foods for dinner. To sum up our Lapu-Lapu trip for today, we went to my grandmother's house at Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu, City. We had dinner then headed back home to Cebu City. What an amazing day indeed!
