My colleague in school who is the home management teacher carried out practicals with the students today to test the students abilities on cooking. He made them to prepare three sets of dishes which are:
Jollof rice
Donuts
- pepper soup.
Early on Friday morning, the students with their loads of items including their has cookers, were coming to school fully prepared. When the cooking was going on, I was called by the home management teacher to help supervise the students which I did.
Some of them prepared donuts which I did tasted. Some who prepared donuts do not make them dried before removing them from heat.
This has been our culture in my place of work as every end of term the students have to prepare different kinds of dishes. When they are done cooking, they will invite their parents Orr their relatives to come for the assessment of the kinds of food they prepared. There is something special that the parents always do. The parents will at the end, drop tangible amount of money to appreciate the handwork of their wards. The amount dropped depends on what comes from their minds as a parent.
Some parents can go extra mile to appreciate the teacher involved as this is done to appreciate the teacher's handwork towards their children. This is a message to us parents that sometimes we need to appreciate our teachers for they are like the second parents to pure kids. The work they have been doing, we as parents cannot handle such work. They build the children to be something great in future. This means they build the children towards making their dreams realities.
This particular teacher has been trying his best to make the students in his field know how to cook to the fullest. His aim is to train them and make they not go hunger when they finally settled. Most women today who does not know how to cook is caused by either pride or their parents who did not want them to face cooking.
If a child wants to learn how to cook, there must be foundation which will make the child to work towards knowing how to prepare dishes. I started cooking when I was 6 and up till now, there is no good I cannot cook. The fact remains that, I cannot wait for my wife to come back from where she went to before finding what to eat but I do go the the kitchen when Shee is not around and do you know what? I prepare food that we all can eat. I mean any kind of food my wife wants to eat or I like to eat at the particular moment.
Learn how to cook and I bet you, you will never go hunger when you are at home. Do you know that just little amount of money can prepare you what you want to eat? Many people love going to the hotel or eatery to eat but the money spent on buying the food can prepare you what you can eat for that day.
Train your children how to cook so that their husbands will not see them as bad women. Let them, as girls, learn now before it is too late to learn.
