Social skill is the degree to which an individual is able to communicate with others and easily build rapport and maintain or develop trusting relationship with those around them. Such individuals stay away from power struggles or back biting to get ahead in the business world. They actually are more liked as well as respected by others around them. Social skill may also refers to your ability to influence, coach and mentor others as well as resolving conflicts effectively. Entrepreneurs who has high emotional intelligence communicate effectively and are good at identifying and resolving conflicts. Research shows that every unaddressed conflicts can waste about eight hours of company time in gossip and other unproductive activities, putting a drain on resources and morals. If you want to keep your team happy, you need to have those tough conversations and tackle and resolve any issue as they arise.

Entrepreneurs set the tone of their organization. If they lack the emotional intelligence, it could have more far-reaching consequences, resulting in lower employee engagement. Good entrepreneurs inspires others by leading by example and giving praise to others when they have earned it. Entrepreneurs must gain a sound understanding of their emotions and the impact of their actions on those around them. The good thing about emotional intelligence, is that, it can be learned. As entrepreneurs you need to spend your resources to gain and improve your social skills, as your business depends on your ability to communicate effectively with your employees and investors.
