Playing With Ripple And Nexo

Minutes ago I transferred all Ripple (XRP @coingecko) that I have to the Nexo platform*.

I bought XRP way back in October 2018 when crypto heaven was at arm's reach. @toofasteddie, remember the horses? :)

Today XRP is worth less than a half less than it was two years ago. In fact, I don't know why am I holding it?

So I finally made a move, sort of.

I combined two initiatives:

1. Flare Spark Airdrop

2. Nexo Dividends

I won't go into the details here since I want to get some sleep tonight. Let's just briefly outline why I think (hope) this was a prudent move.

Flare Spark Airdrop

Flare is a platform that's building some interesting stuff parallel to the Ripple platform. Their blockchain will launch sometime after December 2020. They decided to distribute (airdrop) their native Spark tokens on at least a 1:1 basis to the XRP holders as of December 12th, 2020. Read more in the official announcement.

There are two ways for XRP holders to get hold of Spark:

  • To go through a sort of registration procedure of their XRP address(es).
  • To put their XRP in the hands of the exchanges that will support the airdrop.

Currently, twelve exchanges and platforms have announced that they will support it.

Among them Nexo platform*.

I have an account there for a long time. It was empty until this evening. Now I have trusted them with some XRP.

Which brings me to the second reason.

Nexo Dividends

Nexo*., apart from being a sort of exchange, is primarily a lending platform. Their living consists of giving loans in crypto and fiat currencies. You can repay the loans with crypto.

They also distribute dividends to holders on the platform. These are in the assets deposited or in their native token Nexo (ERC20).

They also promise that they will issue a plastic and virtual card to spend your (loaned) assets wherever you wish. I am still waiting for the card.

The following link - https://nexo.io/nexo-card?referral=iWBqX2z - is my personal referral link through which I might get the card sooner. Who knows ...

The gist

Flare Spark airdrop when you have your XRP address properly registered or on supporting exchange.
Nexo dividends for holding your assets on their platform.
