Mobile MiniGames: Play & Earn | Competitive PvP Guide

Despite the fact that the economy is currently kind of broken in Mobile Minigames (See How To Save The Economy), playing right now and progressing your account potentially could give players that enjoy the game for what it is a big advantage in case things recover later down the line. This is a Guide into the recently introduced Competitive PvP & Earn...

The 2 big new things that were introduced in the latest expansion were the Metaverse NFT staking and the Competitive PvP. It's clear that both need more work on them and the team currently has its focus on first improving the Competitive PvP also likely increasing the rewards on that. This by no means is a complete guide as there are better players than me but they instead should be good basic guidelines for those looking to start or improve their rating.

How Competitive PvP & Earn Works

Building your team with heroes leveling them up over time has been one of the gameplay loops from the start of the game and the competitive PvP allows players to put these teams of heroes to work in order to earn something based on season rankings. Basically, a season takes 2 weeks & each day you get to fight 1 opponent for which you can prepare 24 hours prior to the fight. In the first match, players get a random opponent, and from there on out the days after they get matched with players that have an equal win rate. So players that have a good win rate get put up against stronger opponents as the season progresses while players with a bad win rate get to fight weaker opponents later in the season having more chance to win. Payouts are also set to increase in future updates most likely as they plan to make the competitive PvP one of the main aspects and selling points of the game.

You have submit 6 Teams in the order that you want and they will face off against the opponent starting with the first teams, whoever wins will keep the heroes that remain on the battlefield fighting the next team of the opponent. This until 1 player has all their heroes and teams killed.

Top Players that manage to get 14 Wins 0 Losses are able to earn 500k Crypton which equals 650$ at in-game purchasing value or 83.5$ at the current heavily discounted PRPS price. The payouts are very top-heavy and finishing 12W-2L last season got me to earn 6878 Crypton. There is some strategy that comes into play that can help players perform Better.

How Increase Hero & Team Power

Just by playing the game, you naturally will get to higher level heroes even without spending anything as the game still is way too Free2Play Friendly. The best way to speed this up and get the highest power increases...

  • Play 5-10 Minutes Daily
Just by logging in and doing the daily quests (which can be automated by keeping the dotman icon in the top left pressed) which takes less than 5 minutes, players get some good progress, especially when just making this into a habit each day. You get 100 pets each day and also 10 Legendary stars or more which helps to unlock achievements and to complete events.

  • Complete Weekly & Legendary Events
The way the game works is that 5 level 1 heroes can be merged into 1 Level 2 hero and so on until Level 12 Heroes. The best way however is to directly earn Level 7-8-9-10-11 heroes by completing weekly events. Especially the Legendary event which progresses by collecting legendary stars gives the best heroes and pets.

  • Upgrade & Level Up Heroes
Personally, I tend to go with having the Level of my heroes (Level Up Building) aligned with the number of stars they have (Upgrade Building). When merging heroes, you don't actually lose any dust and you can use all of it to level your heroes. The best strategy most likely is to just focus on your 6 strongest heroes from each faction and if needed get their level higher than their star count.

  • Collect Faces to Unlock Extra Power & Abilities
Especially when starting the game, you want to get as quickly as possible to the point where you have collected 100k faces. This is best done by doing single spins on everything which also gives more duplicate ability sets increasing the passive Crypton generation from the spellbook. Having more faces unlocks all factions and allows you to give extra power for hero Skins, Factions, Classes, along with Anti-Heroes, Anti Factions, Anti-Classes which will highly increase how effective your team is.

What you want to do is for each faction, select a face and equip all the heroes from that faction with that face to give all of them a boost. Also, set the faction correct and the anti-faction based on how they work in the game. Also, set the class based on the strongest heroes you have from that specific faction.

  • Collect Skins and equip the strongest
The more individual skins you own from different players, the higher the power % bonus will be on all the skins that you own that are rare or better. The best way to get these skins is to either follow players like me that give them for free for following (I will change that next year only giving them out for players who complete challenges in my community). A list of players that give out free skins when following them on twitch can be found Here. This takes a while but it will boost your bonus % quite a bit.

it is also possible to buy more skins in the auction house to increase your power or completing weekly events also gives you more skins. Personally, I just set everything at Attack increase neglecting the armor and health.

  • Set Pet Guardian Abilities.
in the achievements building, 1 pet can be chosen as the guardian pet for each faction which gives your team extra powers that can be selected. Higher Level Pets give more abilities (1 to 4 max) and higher stars give a higher buff % (up to 9 stars). This is one of the main reasons to collect pets and merge them to a higher level. Especially the Skin Collector gives all your skin +6.13% bonus power which helps you to make your team stronger.

  • Climb The Campaign and Unlock Achievements.
When you climb the campaign tower, your strongest heroes from each class will get a big base power increase one by one until a certain point in the campaign when all heroes have this power. I think that unlocking achievements and progressing in the game in general also increases this.

Competitive PvP Strategies

  • Balance Your Teams
Since all teams from all factions need to be submitted, it's likely best to have teams more balanced instead of having just 1 strong team. This also works better in order to progress in the campaign tower.
It's also better not to upgrade heroes unless you have enough higher-level heroes to fill the remainder of your team. So if you have 5 Level 9 heroes in a team and a bunch of level 8 & 7s, you would be overall weaker if you merged the 5 level 9 heroes into 1 level 10 since the rest of the team would be filled with weaker level 8 & 7 heroes.

  • Counter Your Opponent
This is somewhat of a rock-paper-scissors game as you can only see the line-up of your opponent in their last fight. You can anticipate them not changing it or they changing it based on your last line-up. What you can do is make sure you set the anti-class and anti-streamer in the Streamer talents building based on the heroes that the opponents has. A popular class right now is Mage as it is able to return fire. The mechanics were broken as the weakest players always attacked first which made the return fire ability a must. Personally especially when I'm stronger, I tend to just mirror the last battle of my new opponent each day setting the factions based on how there were put and adjusting the anti-streamer and class. I tend to have 1 of each class in my team so it can't easily be countered. It takes 2-5 minutes each day to prepare this and set things right.

  • Select Ability Sets
In the Spellbook building, it is possible to change the abilities that are set on each hero. The higher the Level the hero is, the more abilities are unlocked up to 4 maximum. Some abilities are better to fight bosses while others that do blast damage are better to fight teams which applies in the Competitive PvP. Some also offer nice synergy. In the future, I believe there will be better ways to actually test these out better as right now it is all rather unclear.

Conclusion

There are many ways in Mobile MiniGames to make heroes and your teams stronger. just playing daily does most of this automatically. Some specific strategies can make you progress a lot faster or make teams exponentially more powerful which all will help to get a higher win rate in Competitive PvP & Earn. The game is still way too Free2Play right now and most of the player base still needs to come into the ecosystem. The economy sucks right now which is bad for those that want to cash out but great for those like me who still want to build as the game is simply too good for things not to eventually recover. In that regard, I can still recommend the game to anyone that is looking for a fun Play2Earn game that doesn't require much time or a real money investment. Scanning the QR code on your phone will automatically get you into my community which gives a lot of benefits.
