Some time ago I had already done a review of the animated series 'Castlevania' about its first three seasons, I watched it on Netflix and it caught my attention since I am a fan of the video game which I used to play several years ago when I had my Nintendo DS console. Days ago, on May 13 to be more precise, Netflix finally released the fourth season of this series where I could see a masterful closure for our beloved characters of this story, but, is it the end, I think so but I still have my doubts since I have done some research for myself and it seems that this will not be the end for Castlevania.

Hace algún tiempo ya había hecho una reseña de la serie animada ‘Castlevania’ sobre sus tres primeras temporadas, la vi en Netflix y me llamó mucho la atención ya que soy un fan del videojuego el cual me la pasaba jugando ya hace varios años cuando tenía mi consola de Nintendo DS. Hace días, el 13 de Mayo para ser más precisos, Netflix lanzó finalmente la cuarta temporada de esta serie donde pude ver un cierre magistral para nuestros personajes queridos de esta historia, pero, ¿es el fin?, pienso que si pero aún tengo mis dudas ya que me he puesto a investigar por mí mismo y parece que este no será el final para Castlevania.
Lots of action, gore, extensive and philosophical dialogues, magic, epic adventures and good doses of humor, is what I could find in this season. The series is based on the videogame Castlevania III: Dracula's Cursed, with references to other videogames of the saga such as Symphony Of The Night and Curse of Darkness by the famous videogame company KONAMI. This spectacular animated series was written by Warren Ellis and directed by Sam Deats. The series was released in 2017 by the streaming service Netflix.
Now let's talk about the characters that make history in this series, which laid the groundwork for this new show. At the beginning, we will see our favorite duo of adventurers and lovers, Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, who spend their time fighting monsters called "Creatures of the night", which cross their path, we know the skills of these two heroes; Belmont, is a professional monster hunter last descendant of a powerful family that was dedicated to this trade, and Sypha is a mage speaker with great handling of the elements fire and water and later we will see the use of electrical energy among her skills.
Mucha acción, gore, diálogos extensos y filosóficos, magia, aventuras épicas y buenas dosis de humor, es lo que pude encontrar en esta temporada. La serie está basada en el videojuego Castlevania III: Dracula’s Cursed, con referencias a otros videojuegos de la saga como Symphony Of The Night y Curse of Darkness de la famosa empresa de videojuegos KONAMI. Esta espectacular serie animada fue escrita por Warren Ellis y dirigida por Sam Deats. La serie fue estrenada en el año 2017 por el servicio de streaming Netflix.
Ahora hablemos de los personajes que hacen historia en esta serie, los cuales dejaron abonado el terreno para este nuevo espectáculo. Al comienzo, veremos a nuestro dúo favorito de aventureros y amantes, Trevor Belmont y Sypha Belnades, quienes se la pasan luchando contra monstruos llamados “Criaturas de la noche”, los cuales se cruzan en su camino, sabemos la habilidades de estos dos héroes; Belmont, es un cazador de monstruos profesional último descendiente de una familia poderosa que se dedicaba a este oficio, y Sypha es una oradora maga con sumo manejo de los elementos fuego y agua y posteriormente veremos el uso de la energía eléctrica entre sus habilidades.
Both heroes, in their constant eradication of creatures and dark wizards, realize that there is a joint plan to revive Dracula which they must avoid, however, our characters have had enough of fighting so much that they are only looking for their place in the world. Alucard Tepes, Dracula's son who is now the guardian of his father's castle, is fed up with so much loneliness, but one day he receives a note of help from a nearby village that is under constant attack by creatures of the night, Alucard, although hesitant at first, decides to go to that place to help.
Meanwhile, Isaac, a skilled master forger and creator of creatures of the night, abruptly takes a change of plan, realizing that his revenge against the people who conspired against Dracula no longer makes much sense, however, his desire to kill Carmilla remains, since for him she is a heinous evil that must be eradicated. Carmilla, who belonged to Dracula's court and then betrayed him, is a vampire with ambitions that go beyond a simple conquest, we will see that this character evolves with an inexhaustible thirst for power, so great, that caused the concern of her sister Lenore, although Carmilla did not have much participation in this season, her way of fighting in one of the chapters was one of the most spectacular moments I have witnessed.
Ambos héroes, en su constante erradicación de criaturas y magos oscuros, se dan cuenta que hay un plan en conjunto para revivir a Drácula el cual deben evitar, sin embargo, nuestros personajes ya están hartos de tanto luchar por lo que solo buscan su lugar en el mundo. Alucard Tepes, el hijo de Drácula quien ahora es el guardián del castillo de su padre, se siente hastiado de tanta soledad, pero un día recibe una nota de auxilio de un pueblo cercano que se encuentra bajo constante ataque de criaturas de la noche, Alucard, aunque al principio dudoso, decide ir hacia dicho lugar para ayudar.
Mientras tanto, Isaac, un habilidoso maestro forjador creador de criaturas de la noche, toma un cambio de plan abruptamente, al darse cuenta que su venganza contra las personas que conspiraron contra Drácula no tiene ya mucho sentido, sin embargo, su deseo por asesinar a Carmilla sigue vigente, ya que para él ella es un mal atroz que se debe erradicar. Carmilla, quien perteneció a la corte de Drácula y luego lo traicionó, es una vampiresa con ambiciones que van más allá de una simple conquista, veremos que este personaje evoluciona con una sed de poder inagotable, tan grande, que provocó la preocupación de su hermana Lenore, aunque Carmilla no tuvo mucha participación en esta temporada, su forma de pelear en uno de los capítulos fue uno de los momentos más espectaculares que he presenciado.
Lenore, Carmilla's sister, in this season we see her with a crestfallen and moody attitude, very different from the previous season, where she always vents her disagreements with Hector, feeling useless since she has no task to perform and in this season her role no longer makes much sense. Hector, is another master forger like Isaac, who was tricked and forced to work for Carmilla creating for her creatures of the night, in previous seasons we see him as a naive and manipulable man but in this season we see him more assertive and intelligent, with a plan to escape his situation.
Another character that has become quite alive has been Count Saint Germain, a cult alchemist who knows magic and whose true goals are revealed, a case that was left unfinished in the previous season but here his true nature is revealed and what he is really looking for beyond this world. There are other characters added to the series that have fit in very well, and one of them has served to reveal a plan that has been in force throughout the season, I will not tell details because I'm sure there are followers out there who have not seen the season yet, but I know it will leave you shocked like me.
Lenore, la amiga de Carmilla, en esta temporada la vemos con una actitud cabizbaja y malhumorada, muy diferente a la anterior temporada, donde siempre desahoga sus inconformidades con Héctor, sintiéndose inútil ya que no tiene una tarea que realizar y en esta temporada ya no tiene mucho sentido su papel. Héctor, es otro forjador maestro como Isaac, quien fue engañado y obligado a trabajar para Carmilla creando para ella criaturas de la noche, en temporadas anteriores lo vemos como un hombre ingenuo y manipulable pero en esta temporada lo vemos más firme e inteligente, con un plan para escapar de su situación.
Otro personaje que ha hecho bastante vida ha sido el conde Saint Germain, un culto alquimista conocedor de la magia del cual se revelan sus verdaderos objetivos, caso que quedó inconcluso en la temporada anterior pero aquí se desvela su verdadera naturaleza y lo que de verdad está buscando más allá de este mundo. Existen otros personajes agregados a la serie que han encajado muy bien, y uno de ellos ha servido para revelarnos un plan que ha estado vigente en toda la temporada, no voy a contar detalles porque estoy seguro que hay adeptos por ahí que no han visto la temporada aún, pero sé que los dejará impactados como a mí.

Within the background of the series we will find the theme of ambition as an engine to achieve gigantic ends, the vampiric nature, which looks to the long term, is always steps ahead of humanity. Hunger, not as a biological need but as an excessive gluttony that never ends, becomes the main antagonist that stalks all living beings on earth, implementing itself in a devastated world looking for the mechanisms to rise again.
Lots of blood running in each chapter, seasoned with deep and extensive dialogues that are used to justify the actions of the characters. New creatures, new fights that leave you glued to the screen, new skills used in a chaotic and masterful way by our heroes, who have it harder and harder in every battle, really the action moments are to take off your hat in this new season.
Castlevania is one of those animated fantasy series that leave you wanting more, 32 episodes in total I think are not enough, I even read an article that revealed a fifth season prepared by its creators with a different story and new main characters, I will be watching at all times since I was thirsty for more. I give this season a 9/10 proving me once again that this is my favorite animated series.
Dentro del trasfondo de la serie encontraremos el tema de la ambición como un motor para lograr fines gigantescos, la naturaleza vampírica, que mira hacia largo plazo, siempre está a pasos más delante de la humanidad. El hambre, no como una necesidad biológica sino como una gula excesiva que nunca acaba, se convierte en el antagonista principal que acecha a todos los seres vivos de la tierra, implementándose en un mundo devastado que busca los mecanismos para levantarse de nuevo.
Mucha sangre corriendo en cada capítulo, aderezado con profundos y extensos diálogos que se usan para justificar las acciones de los personajes. Nuevas criaturas, nuevos combates que te dejan pegado a la pantalla, nuevas habilidades usadas de manera caótica y magistral por parte de nuestros héroes, que cada vez la tienen más difícil en cada batalla, de verdad los momentos de acción son para quitarse el sombrero en esta nueva temporada.
Castlevania es de esas series animadas de fantasía que te dejan con más ganas, 32 episodios en total pienso que no son suficientes, incluso leí un artículo que revelaba una quinta temporada preparada por sus creadores con una historia diferente y personajes principales nuevos, yo estaré pendiente en todo momento puesto que quedé sediento de más. Le doy a esta temporada un 9/10 demostrándome una vez en que esta es mi serie animada preferida.
