Kevin Hart is something of a legend in the comedy space. I personally have not seen any of his shows because I don't necessarily enjoy standup comedy but I have seen a number of movies he has starred in and I enjoyed his humor back then. It had been a while since I saw the man on screen so, recently, I decided that I would watch one of his movies.
I know of two Kevin Hart movies that were released last year and, from what I heard, a lot of people don't like them. The first movie I wanted to see was The Man From Toronto because the trailer looked intense. However, after seeing the 6% Rotten Tomato score given to Me Time, I thought "No way it's that bad". With someone like Mark Wahlberg, I just believed that the movie would not be so bad. Well, is it that bad? Let's find out.

After watching this film, I had to look up what it cost to make it. The budget of this film is estimated to be 80 million dollars! I don't know how many people who can comprehend how much money that is but I, for one, cannot. A huge amount of money like that should make a decent movie, right? Well, that amount of money is too much when compared to this particular movie. I just have to say it bluntly that "Me Time" is one of the silliest excuses of a movie that I have ever watched. It's just that bad.
When I see movies that cost a lot but end up being absolute flops, I really wonder how the money spent. I don't know how movie project budgets are calculated but from what I have noticed, the big-name actors probably take a sizeable chunk of the budget. The silly trend by Netflix is clear for everyone to see. They just write anything in the plot and hire top actors to do some "magic". Anything goes as long as they continue to fill their catalogue.
In the case of "Me Time", it was supposed to be a comedy film so they needed to hire actors that would "make us laugh". So, they hired Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg and even Regina Hall - three big names and more just to give the film some hype and attract people like me. Normally, before I watch a movie I like to check the critic score just for reference, I guess. Many times I would end up ignoring the score and watching the movie which I may end up enjoying. A major reason why I ignore movie scores is the actors that I love to watch. Netflix knows this and so they basically abandon creativity and let their projects survive on hype. What a shame!

Honestly, I did not expect much from Kevin Hard given that I'm not much of a fan of hiss but I was disappointed to see Mark Wahlberg present such mediocre performance. Many scenes seemed very unnatural. When you have bad performances, you get bad character chemistry. For one, watching Sonny and his son interact with each other was very cringe.

There was a particular side character that was introduced, seemingly, as a minor character but gradually she was made more and more relevant. The first thing I noticed was right at the beginning when Sonny was telling Maya where she could find her iPad. He said something but his lip movements did not match what he said at all.
