Welcome my dear internet jester travelers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, I ended up watching the film that brings us together today because its cover caught my attention but at first my intention was to watch another film, The thing is, "The Jester" seemed to contain an insane amount of blood and guts flying around so I couldn't resist. Without further ado, prepare to be deadly pranksters because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros bufones del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, el filme que hoy nos reúne lo termine viendo debido a que su portada me llamo la atención pero en un primer momento mi intención era ver otra película, el asunto es que "The Jester" parecía contener unas dosis insanas de sangre y vísceras volando por lo que no pude resistirme. Sin más que agregar prepárense para ser unos bromistas letales pues estamos por comenzar.
The Jester was released this year, directed by Colin Krawchuk and Johnny Mercer, produced by Epic Pictures, and has a duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It is a horror film, the story focuses on two half-sisters who know each other because their father committed suicide, the problem is that he abandoned his mother Emma, which produced strong resentment and rejection of her for her father, however, things will become strange for the half-sisters when they begin to see a strange subject that their father had to face, all to prevent them from harming them as well as their friends and acquaintances.
The Jester fue estrenada este año, dirigida por Colin Krawchuk y Johnny Mercer, producida por Epic Pictures, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 30 minutos. Es un filme de terror, la historia se centra en dos medias hermanas que se conocen debido a que el padre de ambas se suicidó, el problema es que este abandono a la mamá Emma, lo que produjo un fuerte resentimiento y rechazo de esta por su progenitor, no obstante, las cosas se tornaran extrañas para las medias hermanas cuando comiencen a ver a un sujeto extraño al que debió enfrentarse su padre, todo para evitar que las lastimen tanto a ellas como a sus amigos y conocidos.

The soundtrack is not a great thing, it is fine but it does not have really notable moments where it plays an unforgettable role.
La banda sonora no es la gran cosa, está esta bien pero no tiene momentos realmente destacables en dónde juegue un papel inolvidable.
With this point it happens the same as with the previous one, it does not have any moment or element that makes it stand out, throughout the film its scenery is not at all important because in more than one moment it uses mundane and common settings so that there is nothing of interest in this section.
Con este punto sucede igual que con el anterior, este no cuenta con ningún momento o elemento que lo haga destacar, a lo largo del filme su escenografía no es en absoluto importante debido a que en más de un momento utiliza ambientaciones mundanas y comunes por lo que no existe nada que interese en este apartado.
The plot is somewhat strange and with incomprehensible twists, I mean, at first the villain is presented as some kind of evil being who does the most abominable things just because he can do it, in fact, it shows quite original bloody scenes and that they look very good, which gives it that unique and entertaining touch, the problem arises when it seeks to give a psychological turn that feels forced, strange and incongruous. Narratively the above has even more weight, this is because the premise indicated that it would be something similar to a "Halloween" type slasher where a deranged man with powers murdered people left and right just because he could, this path would have been excellent, However, in the end it decides to take a strange turn to become something psychological that does not fit correctly and ends up being counterproductive. The duration is a success, it is long enough to show grotesque scenes, what ends up being dissonant is its change for something more psychological for which it does not have enough time to develop it correctly and ends up not being understood at all.
La trama resulta algo extraña y con giros incomprensibles, me explico, en un primer momento el villano es presentado como alguna clase de ser maligno que hace las cosas más abominables solo por el hecho de que puede hacerlo, de hecho, muestra escenas sangrientas bastante originales y que quedan muy bien, lo que le da ese toque único y entretenido, el problema nace cuando busca dar un giro psicológico que se siente forzado, extraño e incongruente. Narrativamente lo anterior tiene aún más peso, esto se debe a que la premisa indicaba que sería algo similar a un slasher tipo "Halloween" en dónde un desquiciado con poderes asesinaba personas a diestra y siniestra solo por qué puede, este camino hubiese sido excelente, no obstante al final decide dar un giro extraño para tornarse algo psicológico que no encaja correctamente y que termina siendo contraproducente. La duración es un acierto, es lo suficientemente larga para mostrar escenas grotescas, lo que termina siendo disonante es su cambio por algo más psicológico para lo que no tiene el tiempo suficiente para desarrollarlo correctamente y termina por no entenderse en absoluto.
Nothing to highlight here, the characters are only there to suffer, at first they try to build something interesting through Emma and her resentment for her father but this comes to nothing so it is inconsequential, the rest of the characters are not important either.
Nada que destacar aquí, los personajes solo están para sufrir, en un primer momento se intenta construir algo interesante mediante Emma y su resentimiento por su padre pero esto no llega a nada así que es intrascendente, el resto de personajes tampoco son importantes.
The Jester had the potential to become something iconic with very grotesque and original death scenes, if it had followed that path it could have even become a franchise, what ends up ruining the whole thing is its hasty decision to try to make it more deep in a very forced way, this abrupt change ends up being very harmful as it is perceived as something introduced at the last minute. It is for all the above that it deserves 2 stars out of 7, it is a shame that it did not follow the course it took in its first half since it would have been the right decision to continue down the path of the bizarre because it was something that was given enough Well, a shame about your final choice.
The Jester tenía el potencial de volverse algo icónico con escenas de muerte muy grotescas y originales, si hubiese seguido ese camino de seguro que hasta se pudo haber convertido en una franquicia, lo que termina arruinando todo el asunto es su decisión precipitada por intentar hacerla más profunda de manera muy forzada, este cambio abrupto termina siendo muy perjudicial al percibirse como algo introducido a último minuto. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 2 estrellas de 7, es una lástima que no siguiera el rumbo que tomo en su primera mitad puesto que hubiese sido la decisión acertada seguir por el camino de lo bizarro debido a que fue algo que se le dio bastante bien, una pena su elección final.
