"Como corderos al matadero", así fue nuestra tarde de Domingo en casa... Ha sido el único día libre de la semana, único día donde no teníamos que ver las partituras, a menos que sea hobby, así que sacrificamos una salida al parque para sentarnos a ver una película juntos. Tenemos tiempo que no disfrutamos de Netflix, así que nos fuimos a las más vistas en Venezuela, a ver en qué anda la gente, y lo que encontramos fue EL HORROR PURO!!!!
“Like lambs to the slaughter”, so was our Sunday afternoon at home.... It has been the only free day of the week, only day where we didn't have to watch scores, unless it's a hobby, so we sacrificed an outing to the park to sit and watch a movie together. It's been a while since we enjoyed Netflix, so we went to the most watched in Venezuela, to see what people are into, and what we found was THE PUREST HORROR!!!!
Esta película no es nueva, es de 2022, pero la acaban de agregar a Netflix. Se llama Barbarian y es de terror, y me pareció raro ver una película de mi género preferido en los primeros lugares del top diario, sobre todo porque Netflix hace películas de horror muy malas, pero voilà, la película es de 20th Century Studios, y por eso es tan, pero tan buena. La considero buena porque no hay tiempo para distracción, la trama y el suspenso te mantienen a la expectativa en todo momento y de hecho la película puedo dividirla en tres partes, todas distintas, y traumas distintos.
This movie isn't new, it's from 2022, but they just added it to Netflix. It's called Barbarian and it's horror, and I thought it was weird to see a movie of my favorite genre in the first places of the daily top, especially because Netflix makes really bad horror movies, but voila, the movie is from 20th Century Studios, and that's why it's so, so good. I consider it good because there is no time for distraction, the plot and suspense keep you on the edge of your seat at all times and in fact the movie can be divided into three parts, all different, and different traumas.
Casi toda la tarde tuve esta expresión facial del legendario actor Justin Long en la escena de la imagen de arriba. Literalmente así me sentía y me preguntaba una y otra vez, ¿Qué le pasa a esa mujer?. Y me refiero a la protagonista, la chica interpretada por Georgina Campbell que ya presentía y luego comprobó que algo malo sucedía en esa casa, algo MUY MALO, y aún así la perra seguía y seguía 😅 hay momentos donde hay parar y no indagar más. Sé que insistía por ayudar a otros, pero esos otros no eran nadie en su vida, y al final uno de ellos terminó traicionándola. Solamente ver los al rededores de la casa era suficiente para que yo huyera de ahí desde el primer momento.
Luego conocí, EL HORROR!!!!
Most of the afternoon I had this facial expression of legendary actor Justin Long in the scene in the image above. I literally felt like that and kept asking myself over and over again, what's wrong with that woman. And I mean the main character, the girl played by Georgina Campbell who already sensed and then proved that something bad was going on in that house, something VERY BAD, and yet the bitch went on and on 😅 there are moments where you have to stop and not dig any further. I know she insisted on helping others, but those others were nobody in her life, and in the end one of them ended up betraying her. Just seeing the surroundings of the house was enough for me to run away from there from the very first moment.
Then I met, THE HORROR!!!!
La película da miedo, más que todo por el factor sorpresa, pero hay una escena con un biberón lleno de leche y con muchos pelos pegados al chupón que es realmente perturbadora, lo peor es que hay que ver la escena, porque en ese momento comienzan a entenderse muchas cosas. Cuando digo: ¡Que le pasa a esa mujer!, no solamente me refiero a la protagonista, sino también al monstro que aparece en la película, que evidentemente también es "una mujer" y que hace cosas realmente perturbadoras. Todo es perturbador aquí, se los juro...
The film is scary, mostly because of the surprise factor, but there is a scene with a bottle full of milk and with many hairs stuck to the pacifier that is really disturbing, the worst thing is that you have to watch the scene, because at that moment you begin to understand many things. When I say: What's wrong with that woman, I'm not only referring to the protagonist, but also to the monster that appears in the film, who is obviously also “a woman” and who does really disturbing things. Everything is disturbing here, I swear...
Si son amantes del cine de terror y no la han visto, pues la recomiendo, de verdad es muy buena. No me gustan muchos las películas donde los humanos son los asesinos, lo mío son monstros, espíritus malignos y demonios, pero a pesar de que no hay nada paranormal en esta película, realmente la mujer que habita en esa casa tiene todas las características de ser un verdadero monstro. Los actores son muy buenos y forman parte del género desde hace muchos años, como Bill Skarsgård, el famoso payaso de IT.
If you are horror movie lovers and you haven't seen it, I recommend it, it's really good. I don't like movies where humans are the killers, my thing are monsters, evil spirits and demons, but although there is nothing paranormal in this movie, really the woman who lives in that house has all the characteristics of being a real monster. The actors are very good and have been part of the genre for many years, like Bill Skarsgård, the famous clown from IT.
A pesar de ser una mujer muy tonta (o valiente quizás), agradezco a la protagonista por haber bajado al sótano y más allá y por insistir en quedarse en esa casa del terror y ayudar a desconocidos, porque me ha regalado una de las mejores tardes de películas de mi 2024, aunque también unos buenos traumas que me acompañarán por un par de días, porque sí... Ya tuve mi primera pesadilla 😬
Despite being a very foolish (or brave maybe) woman, I thank the protagonist for going down to the basement and beyond and insisting on staying in that house of terror and helping strangers, because she gave me one of the best movie evenings of my 2024, although also some good traumas that will stay with me for a couple of days, because yes.... I already had my first nightmare 😬
