POWER BOOK IV : FORCE

Besides Ghost (Omari Hardwick), Tommy has always been my favorite character in the power universe, if you haven’t seen 50 cents TV show power then you really and truly need to…especially if you’re into action movies.

The original series “Power” is about a successful black man with a dark past and his struggle to escape that past, James st Patrick is a successful business man and night club owner who has ambitions of attaining more success and power and breaking free from his alias “Ghost” who is a drug king pin.

The series lasted six seasons with every single moment filled with suspense and excitement but it finally came to an end in season six when Ghost dies ( if you didn’t know this, I’m sorry for the spoiler). Apparently the shows producers decided to ride the momentum and success of the original series and create spin off shows for our favorite characters. Tariq (Ghost’s son) got Power book II: Ghost, which I highly recommend especially as the second season just wrapped up beautifully. Kaanan (50 cents Character) got Power book III: Raising Kaanan, which I have not been able to enjoy yet and so will not recommend, and finally Tommy (Ghost’s right hand man) gets Power Book IV: Force.

From the Original series, Tommy (played flawlessly by Joseph Sikora) is Ghost’s right hand man who does not share his desire to leave the drug game like his friend but rather has his sights on becoming the biggest drug king pin in the world, his series being called Force is actually poetic justice because he has always been the muscle of their organization. He acts first and figures out the consequences later, and he flawlessly balances being a tough guy with having a humorous, semi awkward side.

With Ghost dead at the end of the original power series, Tommy decided to leave his old city and find somewhere to put down his roots, he winds up in Chicago and on his very first day in town, pisses off the head huncho in Chicago and decided hd wants to replace him.
The writers have managed to keep the essence of Tommy which is his brute force, while bringing into play his romantic, calculated side.

It also introduces some like able new characters including Tommy’s half brother, his new love interest, and some new friends. With absolutely no affiliations and nothing to lose it is interesting following his future especially because Ghost was the brains of his operations in the original series and even though he didn’t like living in his shadow he still largely depended on him for guidance and help.

Two episodes of the series have dropped so far and a third is dropping tonight, that is all I am looking forward to today. If you haven’t seen the original power series, it doesn’t prevent you from being able too jump into the spin-offs and enjoy them but the original series is an interesting watch and it would help provide a backstory for some of the characters which would make the show even more enjoyable.
At the end of the first season I will drop a proper review on Force but for now all I am doing is encouraging you to check it out and please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
