However, due to Marvel’s enormous success with their own superhero productions, DC Comics probably felt left behind so it is understandable to see this company trying to reinvent itself as fast as possible.
So far, Batman and Spider-Man are the superheroes played by the highest number of different actors since I began to watch films, with 3 different actors each. It seems like these 2 characters are competing to see which one can change to a new actor faster. Although I don’t see Marvel changing Spider-Man soon. With DC Comics, on the other hand, you never know.
This new iteration of the Batman character provides us with the most detective-like version of Batman ever seen to date. Gotham, as is usually the case, is enduring the presence of a very machiavellian murderer, Riddler, and he is causing massive chaos and deep concern in the people. This villain isn’t a normal criminal, but one who is much more talented, skilled, and resourceful than the average. He isn't a super villain though, and that's why remains always hidden and in need of be 2 steps ahead of everyone else.
This is why Batman needs to intervene to pretty much “save the day” and prevent this chaos from continuing. This version of Batman seemed a bit more traumatized than the previous ones, more disturbed and looking very haggard, making it seem like his troubled surrounding clearly affects him. This was probably due to the chosen actor to play this role, Robert Pattinson, and in my opinion, he did a great job playing Batman. This Batman is better than Ben Affleck’s one, but not better than Christian Bale’s, at least not yet.

Este villano no es un criminal normal, sino uno que es mucho más talentoso, habilidoso e ingenioso que el promedio. Sin embargo, no es un súper villano, y es por eso que permanece siempre oculto y necesita estar 2 pasos por delante de los demás.
Es por eso que Batman necesita intervenir para "salvar el día" y evitar que continúe este caos. Esta versión de Batman parecía un poco más traumatizada que las anteriores, más perturbada y con un aspecto muy demacrado, por lo que parece que su entorno problemático claramente le afecta. Esto probablemente se debió al actor elegido para interpretar este papel, Robert Pattinson, y en mi opinión, hizo un gran trabajo interpretando a Batman. In a way, he had a psychological profile similar to the Joker. This is a character driven by his sense of frustration and emotional suffering he has endured as a result of the many dysfunctionalities of this city, ultimately driving him to the conclusion that the only solution is through crime and killings.
Similar to the murderer from the movie Zodiac, Riddler likes to leave cyphered messages and clues about his crimes but cracking them results to be very challenging even to the Batman.
This version of Gotham was very well done, showing a society that's clearly undergoing a process of deep degeneration, with the soul of the people getting more rotten and more black with each passing day.
I really like how DC comics portray this city, a huge metropolis consumed by every bad value you can imagine, it is a dark place, where evilness is winning and this invisible negative force seems unstoppable. In the movie about the Joker, this portrayal of a city consumed by evil was almost perfect, and in this film, everything seems even more decadent and corrupted, especially involving high profile people.
Something I have enjoyed from DC Comics films for a long time is that they are willing to explore darker stories where comedy doesn’t fit. Marvel, even though their films are very cool, is constantly adding jokes to the scripts and trying to make the viewer laugh. I have always thought this can reduce the seriousness of the plot. It is clear Marvel’s formula has worked for them, but I really like to have this other approach available to watch, where the goal isn’t to make the viewer laugh but to provide a serious and compelling story.
En cierto modo, tiene un perfil psicológico similar al del Joker. Este es un personaje impulsado por su sentido de frustración y sufrimiento emocional que ha soportado como resultado de las muchas disfuncionalidades de esta ciudad, lo que finalmente lo lleva a la conclusión de que la única solución es a través del crimen y los asesinatos.

Algo que he disfrutado de las películas de DC Comics durante mucho tiempo es que están dispuestas a explorar historias más oscuras donde la comedia no encaja. Marvel, aunque sus películas son muy buenas, constantemente agrega chistes a los guiones y trata de hacer reír al espectador. Siempre he pensado que esto puede reducir la seriedad de la trama. This Batman showed his great skills when it comes to figuring out criminal cases, giving equal importance to his cognitive skills as well as his fighting skills, I did find it a bit funny how he constantly needed to solve a new riddle if he wanted to continue with his investigation but unconventional things must be done when dealing with unconventional criminals.
As we all know, Batman is the most resourceful character in the DC universe, the equivalent of Iron Man I would say, and therefore, he is probably the smartest superhero in his universe. So when it comes to investigations, there is no one better than him for the job. He is observant, he even has notes about the things he sees as days go by, and is the most consistent nocturnal vigilante there is.
In this film, he didn't have a villain that could match him on a fight, so his preoccupation was simply to protect other people from the Riddler murderer knowing his life wasn't at risk as long as he was using his Batman suit which appears to be indestructible, I mean not even bullets or small explosion can hurt him while wearing the suit. Maybe, if there is a next film, he can face another villain that could match him on a fight.
Final thoughts
The movie lasted a lot, almost 3 hours. I even think it is the longest movie I have watched this year. There were a lot of cool scenes, but due to its length, there were also moments without much excitement going on. I really believe it should have been possible to make this film shorter and condense the same story in less time.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the film, I have never seen a Batman film I didn’t like and this one wasn’t the exception. It is a very decent and worth watching crime-thriller film, with some action scenes as expected as well. The dark tone in the story was better than I expected and overall, I can say this is among the best films produced in recent months, and most viewers will likely agree with this.
Este Batman mostró sus grandes habilidades cuando se trata de descifrar casos criminales, dando igual importancia a sus habilidades cognitivas como a sus habilidades de lucha, me hizo un poco de gracia cómo constantemente necesitaba resolver un nuevo acertijo si quería continuar con su investigación, pero se deben hacer cosas poco convencionales cuando se trata de criminales no convencionales.
Como todos sabemos, Batman es el personaje con más recursos del universo DC, el equivalente a Iron Man, diría yo, y por lo tanto, es probablemente el superhéroe más inteligente de su universo. La película duró mucho, casi 3 horas. Incluso creo que es la película más larga que he visto este año. Hubo muchas escenas geniales, pero debido a su duración, también hubo momentos sin mucha emoción. Realmente creo que debería haber sido posible acortar esta película y condensar la misma historia en menos tiempo.
Sin embargo, disfruté la película, nunca había visto una película de Batman que no me gustara y esta no fue la excepción. Es una película de suspenso y crimen muy decente y vale la pena verla, con algunas escenas de acción como se esperaba también. El tono oscuro de la historia fue mejor de lo que esperaba y, en general, puedo decir que esta es una de las mejores películas producidas en los últimos meses, y la mayoría de los espectadores probablemente estarán de acuerdo con esto.
