Emotion and motive "no” are the same

I share a little of what I experienced in the personnel management conference, where the main axis was emotions, the same ones that play a fundamental role in our lives and are the center of who we are.

I have always said, and I keep it that one thing is to excite, that is to produce emotion and another is to motivate, to give an argument to produce an action or behavior, for example in a company when a manager wants his employees to achieve a goal to achieve the sales planned for the month "at any cost"... they always release phrases like "together we can do it, we are the best, let's go with everything, ¡Cheer up! That if you can”... but it turns out that it is not always enough to encourage them to achieve their goals, why? Because by itself does not always achieve much.

In this activity practical cases about leadership styles were exposed, such as those that "instill fear” for example, when you tell your collaborators ”You have to meet the goal in monthly sales, and the one who does not sell or achieve what we have planned ... will be fired” it is a terrible way to managing staff and in fact, you should not put it into practice even at home because people's self-esteem is being destroyed in one fell swoop, and I'm sure that absolutely nothing will be achieved just people complaining, criticizing, depressed, frustrated and with the motivation rolling around on the floor.

Without any valid argument, there is motivation

Also, come to my mind those conventions with people who think they are motivators but really are animators to call them in some way. They are those people who give talks but scream, with loud music, they make people jump, and shout "overacting and manipulating emotions" with adrenaline at a thousand miles per hour, without any valid argument.

But a few hours after having finished "the talk" at the convention people return to their lives, to their daily routine, to their discouragement of not achieving what they set out to do, and by the way, I always wonder where so many screams, songs, and jumps end up? Of course, the money collected by the activity is known where it went... but only by those who organized it. I lived this disastrous experience with a pyramid cleaning product company.

I am almost sure that it could happen to you the same as to me when remembering certain characters in politics, religion, in the field of work, or personal growth who leave nothing to the audience, these characters are only those who try to manipulate emotions, and sometimes they succeed and that in most cases is not right and much less in the long term and consistently.

If we wanted, we could all scream and try to cheer

Only good professionals know how to motivate, which is very different, in fact, you don't have to shout much, you just have to teach them with experience, technique, with real practical cases. I'm sure that after these "Well-oriented" sessions people transform their lives for the better because they learn something new for their lives, whether it's an attitude, a new knowledge, a new tool, a new behavior that helps them... For that, you don't have to shout a lot or jump, or do shows.

On the other hand, how different would it be if a manager tells his collaborators "listen we have an excellent product the only thing they have to achieve is that their customers try it, I assure them that they will be convinced, they will buy the product, and they will be so satisfied that every month they will keep buying it, with which their sales conditions will continue to increase because they will not only sell once but several times and "that's it", I don't think there is more to add to this argument.

The important thing it is that those who direct personal to give confidence to their (collaborators) to motivate them so that they can approach their potential customers with confidence, satisfy their needs, achieve sales, and know that in this way their commissions are earned; although encouraging them is not a bad thing, what should be relevant is to give them reasons so that the receiver is convinced and does not hesitate to move to the action, with which the leader will be being effective because the receiver of the message executes an action, and you will be better, leader, parent or teacher depending on the case and the context.

Important things are achieved only by identifying reasons

If you want to progress, the key starts by joining forces with all the resources you have at hand, everything possible in pursuit of the goal but remember that it is not just planning, is to take action and one of the ways to achieve this is to identify motives, purposes. Now then, we already know that to motivate is not to have, nor to give encouragement, it is to have reasons and sometimes just one will be enough.

The management, development and leadership day was concluded with this motivating message

Our day-to-day is full of emotions and allowing ourselves to feel them, accept them, and understand is the "key message" they bring us to expanding our world. The most important thing is that we have enjoyed and learned many tools for our personal development. Thank you for joining us, for trusting us, and for giving yourself this moment to reconnect and renew your energies.
