Welcome to Wordy Wednesday

Part 4

Wordy Wednesday is the day to use and celebrate Logophilia, the term for someone who loves words in all their forms and uses. Come along with me to discover new words, their meanings, history and uses as well as some other additions like poetry or lyrical genius set to good music.

Challenge yourself to add to your vocabulary and possibly learn something new along the way. Don't forget to include some fun as well

Over the last few days I've come across a similar set of words that are sometimes misused and sometimes misunderstood. I've decided to put them in today as our Wordy Wednesday focal points as confused words.

Copyright : noun, verb and adj :

Noun
The exclusive legal right assigned automatically to the original creator of a work of literary, art, musical, video or photographic material for a set number of years.
"She was issued a fine for breach of copyright"

Adjective
The latest blog post on the famous theatrical poses of mice in the orchestra is protected by copyright.
"This work is available to reproduce as well as other copyright works in this gallery"

Verb
Secure copyright for (material).
"She shot herself in the foot by simply not wanting to copyright her own writing. She said it was a free world after all"

Pronunciation:

copy·right ˈkä-pē-ˌrīt

Copyrights are a set of laws that differ from country to country but set out to protect the intellectual property rights of creative expression. They protect expression - not ideas, procedures, methods, systems, processes, concepts, principles or discoveries.

Copywriter : noun

Noun
A copywriter is a person who specialises in the art of composing copy (usually in conjunction with visual media like graphics or video) with a set purpose to urge a reader to a call to action.

Pronunciation:

copy·writ·er ˈkä-pē-ˌrī-tər

It is used in Advertising to get customers to buy things, visit a shop or call in.
It is used in promotions on social media to increase following, likes and shares or to get people to sign up for subscriptions or newsletters.

It generally follows some rules but tends to overlap between marketing and communications by showcasing the features of a product (what it's for) and the benefits of using a product (the current reasons people are buying the product).

So from these two, can you see that everyone is a copyright owner, but not everyone is a copywriter?
