Made by Me
Mornings are great for reflections. Having free time to think will be a great move for a morning. But can we get it? I don’t think so. Our work wouldn’t allow us. This reflection came when I was walking to work. I saw many people driving, and riding and all were in a hurry to make it there early. Some were taking their children to school; others have done that already and were heading toward work. Then I asked myself, what at all is life for? Is it for the children we give birth to or it’s just a mirage we are chasing? I don’t understand.
As a kid, my dad sent me to school. He monitored my everything in school to ensure I get a great future. My homework, assignments, and other projects I was given at school were supposed to be completed. There were structures built up for me to get to that future he sees for me. I did my best to follow and be great in his eyes. My dream was to make him proud. To give him what he wanted. I never thought that was something for me in the future until grew up.
As I walk, my childhood thoughts reflect in my mind. He may have left wherever he is today, but what he gave me is priceless. What I could think of is, what is the future I will build for my children yet unborn? What assets will they have? What will they own in their selves? That was when I realized for all the life my dad lived, he aimed to just make me a man. He made me a man without telling me one day I will also give that to my children. Then I realized life is a pattern. Can this pattern be broken?
You grew from a kid to a man. You face the future, get work and all you can think of is using the assets acquired to build a future for your children. We don’t own anything if we look at it critically. We strive to acquire but at the end of the day, we won’t have any to ourselves. What then is enjoyment in life? You will never have something for yourself. You acquire them and never own them. They will be seen as your kids’ inheritance. You saw your father’s property as yours. Your children will see yours as theirs. Your grandchildren will see your kids’ property as theirs. The chain continues. It will never stop. You never own anything in this world no matter how hard you work to acquire it.
Why then should we give so much to it as if we can live that ever-after life? The only peaceful gift you can get from life is that woman or man who will love you for who you are. Getting to choose a partner who will always be by you in those hard times and be the one to give you peace is the only best thing life can offer. This is a key ingredient in our future lives. Let’s choose them well. Choose them because you wish to see yourself growing old with them not because of what they pose today. riches may never last but what lies in the heart of man will always be that.
Built the dream for your children. But choose a better partner for yourself. That’s the one thing you won among all the things you will strive for. Thanks for passing by
