Con 42 años de edad, y viviendo en Venezuela, nunca había tenido la oportunidad de visitar la capital Caracas, hasta hace poco que surgió un viaje por asuntos médicos, pero, por supuesto no podía desperdiciar la oportunidad de visitar todos los lugares posibles, jejejej, incluida la casa natal de nuestro libertador Simón Bolívar, que es una visita obligada al visitar Caracas, por su valor histórico; por supuesto que la visite, y, me encontré en sus afueras con esta plaza que tiene mas de 200 años de historia, y es hoy en día un lugar muy visitado por los lugareños y visitantes.
Esta plaza fue declarada monumento historico nacional, debido a su importancia histórica en el año 1977, aun asi se utilizaba para la economia informal, pero en el año 2005 fue recuperada y quedo como una plaza pública, para el disfrute de las personas.

Para sus inicios se encontraba en la plaza un reloj de sol elaborado en mármol, que fue destruido por el terremoto de 1812; pero que fue reconstruido y todavía permanece allí, además de una fuente en el medio; hoy en día cuenta con un monumento de 47 metros de altura, y más de 2 metros de ancho, que se va haciendo mas y mas delgada a medida que va subiendo, está pintada en rojo y negro, y tiene en su base una inscripción en honor al 19 de Abril de 1810, cuando se firma el acta de la independencia venezolana.
Rodeada por grandes edificios como el del BDV, tiene una hermosa vista, además tiene árboles que dan fresca sombra para descansar durante el dia, cuenta tambien con bancas con respaldo, hechas de bronce y madera pulida, hermosos faros y escaleras para acceder.
Así que si vas a Caracas, no dejes de visitar esta hermosa plaza, al frente quedan tiendas y ventas de comida, puedes comprar algo para comer y sentarte a disfrutar el paisaje mientras descansas!
