Various photos taken in Kanazawa. (ENG/JPN)

I thought I didn't have much to blog about today (my large 1 meter square painting is still not dry yet), but I took quite a few pictures while I was in Kanazawa for my solo exhibition the other day, so I thought I would share them with you all.

This photo was taken at Kenrokuen Garden, one of the three most famous gardens in Japan. It is said that Kenrokuen Garden has been shaped over many years by generations of Kaga feudal lords. The shape of the lanterns is also unique. Some people were taking commemorative photos, perhaps for a wedding or something.

This is the Ishikawa Prefectural Government Memorial Shiiinoki Guest House. This guest house was renovated from the main building of the former Ishikawa Prefectural Office Building, and from the angle I took this picture, the design of the old building is still intact. And the other side of the building is shiny and new.

This is the Ishikawa 4 High School Memorial Cultural Exchange Center, a facility where visitors can learn about the history of Ishikawa 4 High School, which was used as a former high school for about 60 years from 1893. The museum also houses the Ishikawa Museum of Modern Literature, which exhibits materials on literary figures associated with Ishikawa Prefecture.

This is the Tatemachi shopping street where I used to frequent. The stores seem to have changed a lot.

The Shin-Tatemachi shopping street extends further from the Tatemachi shopping street. This shopping street was interesting in its overall retro atmosphere, perhaps due to the large number of antique stores. However, due to COVID-19, there were not many people and the art gallery cafes were closed, which was a little disappointing.

And here is Kanazawa Station with its modern architecture. I didn't take any pictures this time, but I found again that Kanazawa is an interesting city with both old and new buildings, such as the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.
