Oradea, the pearl of western Romania that combines the historical and cultural beauty of Bihor county
The trail of civilisation only damages monuments.

Hello everyone
I hope you are well and I hope your well being and good mood accompany you to explore as many beautiful places as possible.
ORADEA
Before photographing this city and writing this post, my wife and I visited Oradea several times, especially the area with the thermal water streets, yes, Oradea is famous for the benefits of thermal waters.
I could not be so close to Oradea and not share with you this beautiful corner of the world, I must admit that in recent years this city has really been reborn, many historic buildings have been completely renovated, including the city center.
Oradea is known for its Art Nouveau style, which has made it the Art Nouveau city in Romania, and its rich history has attracted many tourists especially after the renovation of the historical buildings and promenade areas.
Where is Oradea located?
Oradea is a city crossed by the river Crisul Repede, and is located in north-western Romania very close to the Hungarian border.
The distance we drove to Oradea was about 130 kilometers (about two hours by car, due to the fact that we pass through many villages where the speed limit applies).
The route is very simple Arad - Chisinau-Cris - Salonta - Oradea.
Let's start exploring this beautiful city
Being a Sunday we easily found a parking place for the car very close to the centre of Oradea, we didn't have to pay for parking, it's free on weekends.
We chose to spend most of our time here in Oradea and in today's post I will share with you some more beautiful places here.
The first place we wanted to visit was Calea Republicii, from here you can tell the exact time in Oradea, and because here are most of the historical buildings built in the Baroque and Art Nouveau style, here we found a pedestrian street that at first sight left us speechless.
If you ever visit Oradea you should plan a day of walking in the streets of downtown Oradea, and now I will give you some examples of famous buildings here, Moskovits-Miksa Palace, Stern Palace, Appolo Palace, Sztarill Palace (Hotel Astoria), Poynar House, State Theatre of Oradea, all these are iconic buildings with a spectacular history.
There are still some buildings under renovation.
I found Mr. Bean's shop.
Have you ever heard of Mr. Bean?
Don't worry even if it is cold outside in this pedestrian area you will find many beautiful terraces where you can rest a bit or even eat some extremely good food, traditional or with Hungarian influences.
Continuing our walk here we found a shop with lots of sweets, what do you think, we went in to get some, hehe.
After eating sweets we head towards other important sights namely the Church of St. Ladislaus, the Church of the Moon and Ferdinand Square, we don't stay too long here because we want to go to our favorite place here, namely the Black Eagle Palace, it is the oldest palace here and was built somewhere in the 18th century, here we find the Museum of the Cris Country and also many terraces.
A religious wedding was taking place at the Church of the Moon.
Traditional wedding band specific to the Bihor area.
The Black Eagle Palace is located in Unirii Square, a place full of greenery with many places to rest, you really won't get bored here, we wanted to climb the tower in the City Hall building but unfortunately when we got there it was already closed, the access program here is between 10-18 hours from Tuesday to Sunday and the entrance ticket costs 10lei/2euro, so today we will see it only from the outside.
Unirii Square
The Black Eagle Palace
I haven't told you how you can get here, to get here you can use either your personal car (as we did), taxi, uber, or the cheapest but most efficient tram (you will find a tram stop right next to Unirii Square).
For more information about each objective in parted if you are curious you will find more info here..
We continue towards Libertatii Park where we will pass over the Intellectual Bridge which was the first pedestrian bridge built of metal and its first name was the Parallel Bridge, built in 1910.
Here I came across people having picnics, people relaxed like on a Sunday, that's the atmosphere this city gives you.
I forgot to tell you that before reaching the Bridge of Intellectuals we crossed the bridge of St. Ladislau, Oradea has several bridges that separate the old center from the modern center.
As I wrote in the beginning to see as many parts of the city as possible you need a whole day, although it was quite late we decided to leave the visit of the Fortress of Oradea to the end, but unfortunately our legs didn't hold us so we visited the fortress quickly before, but with the thought that we will come back another time and we will reserve more time for the fortress.
My dear followers and readers, I hope you enjoyed today's journey through one of the most beautiful cities in western Romania, a dynamic and lively city where history blends perfectly with local tradition and modernism.
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
