Traveling the World #359 - Tokyo Sky Tree - Tokyo @ Japan

Hi Everyone,

When you are visiting Tokyo, I highly recommend you visit Tokyo Sky Tree. Tokyo Tower has been around forever but Sky Tree is a semi newish tower people love to visit to get another view of this beautiful city. Our hotel has a great view of Sky Tree so the boys were eager to check out this tall tower. We didn’t book ahead of time as we wanted to go up on a clear day. I’ve been there before in 2019 with my mum but the boys and hubby haven’t been so they were super excited. We lined up for around 10 minutes and were able to get our tickets via the machines. If you have booked online, you can collect your tickets via another line which was much shorter than the one we were at.

There are two prices, one is to only visit the main level of Sky Tree with 360 views of the city. To get to the very tip, you need to pay extra to get that ticket and it takes you much higher up. Of course, since we were there, we will be going up to the tip of the tower. Once we got our tickets, we all lined up to catch the extra fast list to the first level. Our ears were popping as we were going up, the speed was lightning quick. The unobstructed view of Tokyo was magnificent. The weather was fine, not a cloud in sight. However, we weren’t able to see Mount Fuji clearly that day as there was a slight cloud in the mountains.

Along the way on this level, there are lots of information about the tower, the city, and landmarks. Our kids were looking for buildings and suburbs they were familiar with and it was loads of up. We then continued onto the next part to the tip of the tower. It was for sure very high up and it was very hot up there. Not sure if they cannot turn the air con up but as my second time it, it was as hot as last time. Everyone had to walk in one direction and make sure not to go the wrong way to ensure a smooth visit for everyone. As it was incredibly hot, we quickly gone through the level and made our way down.

Before taking the escalator down, we talked through a few floor section with glass so we could see right through to the bottom. I’m afraid of heights so I was freaked out but the kids had loads of laughter seeing me so scared. Once we got back down to the main level, be sure to visit the gift shop. There are lots of exclusive gifts and snacks to buy here. We bought a few snacks and headed back down the Sky Tree shopping centre to grab some lunch. You don’t need to worry about planning what to do next after Sky Tree as the shopping centre underneath has loads to do and lots of great eateries to choose from. The JR station is right downstairs so you could literally spend a whole day there if you want.
