Exploring Nepal 🇳🇵at Pokhara Lakeside with view on the Himalayas (#4)

Hello dear Hive family,

After a way too long bumpy ride we arrived early morning before sunrise to Pokhara. We sat down in the first open place to get some chai and breakfast. We decided to go to the most famous area of the city, the Pokhara lake. We couldn’t believe the view we have suddenly had from this city, the first morning sun rays touching high snowy peaks of Himalayas.
The most fascinated we were on spiky top called Machhapuchhra, around 6993 meats high and its peak look unreachable to summit.

It was a beautiful morning walk and Pokhara has a much more relaxing vibe comparable with the busy capital Kathmandu. People were constantly asking us where are we from or do we need smoke. To be honest, we just wanted to find a calm place to stay to relax from the long journey over the last 4 days - to take a shower and so on.

Steffen was staying here for 3 months about 12 years ago and wanted to show the places he really liked.

He reflected back on the past: “Pokhara on the lake side was real deal in 2011 when hippies and local people were living in harmony together. After meeting some old faces from my visit in 12 years ago we all came to the conclusion that Pokhara is not anymore what it was. It lost its sharm and beauty due to tourism. Everywhere hotels and souvenir shops, a nightmare for every nature and travel lover. Prices are more than double and no more lotus ocean in Pokhara lake or any sign of Agori babas which used to live under a banjen tree and swim in the sea of lotus flowers.
Memories are staying but now I had to quickly adopt to the new reality.”

After finding the place we unpacked, got ready, got some sleep and went out for dinner. After that, we didn‘t have much energy do we just spent the evening on our nice terrace.
