Hello friends of Hive, today I want to tell you about the first international trip I made with the choral group Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.
Hola amigos de Hive, hoy les quiero contar sobre el primer viaje internacional que hice con el grupo coral Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.
I have liked singing since I was little and at the end of 2004, at the age of 12, I auditioned to be part of this choral group and was accepted. This was a children's choir from the school where I was studying, I always liked singing but I had not had the opportunity to study it. I joined right away and after a month they gave us the news that we were invited to participate in the International Contest of Habaneras and Polyphony in Torrevieja – Spain.
Desde pequeña me ha gustado el canto y a finales del 2004, con 12 años de edad realicé la audición para poder ser parte del este grupo coral y fui aceptada. Este era un coro infantil del colegio donde estaba estudiando, siempre me gustó el canto pero no había tenido la oportunidad de estudiarlo. Enseguida me incorporé y al mes nos dan la noticia de que fuimos invitados a participar en el Certamen Internacional de Habaneras y Polifonía en Torrevieja – España.
It was great news, the director and all of us were quite excited as it was the first time we were invited to an event abroad and we would be representing our country. We had approximately 6 months to prepare, raise funds for a group of 45 people, tickets, lodging, permits, etc. And most importantly, perfect the repertoire that was mandatory for the competition.
Fue una gran noticia, el director y todos nosotros estábamos bastante emocionados ya que era la primera vez que nos invitaban a un evento en el extranjero y estaríamos representando a nuestro país. Teníamos aproximadamente unos 6 meses para prepararnos, recaudar fondos para un grupo de 45 personas, pasajes, hospedaje, permisos, etc. Y lo más importante, perfeccionar el repertorio que era obligatorio para la competencia.
In this repertoire there were topics in other languages such as French, Japanese and English, so we needed teachers to teach us how to pronounce all the words correctly. There were many hours of rehearsals, our director was quite demanding and we rehearsed 5 days a week, each rehearsal lasted from 4 to 6 hours.
En este repertorio había temas en otros idiomas como francés, japonés e inglés, por lo que necesitamos profesores que nos enseñaran a pronunciar correctamente todas las palabras. Fueron muchas horas de ensayos, nuestro director era bastante exigente y ensayábamos 5 días a la semana, cada ensayo duraba de 4 a 6 horas.
After several months, the day of travel arrived. We left at dawn to the airport since it would be a fairly long trip with 3 flights to reach the destination. First we took a plane from Isla de Margarita to Caracas, being at the Simón Bolívar International Airport we took a second plane that would leave us in Madrid and the third plane to Alicante where the contest would be.
Luego de varios meses, llegó el día de viajar. Salimos en la madrugada al aeropuerto ya que sería un viaje bastante largo con 3 vuelos para poder llegar al destino. Primero tomamos un avión desde la Isla de Margarita a Caracas, estando en el aeropuerto Internacional Simón Bolívar tomamos un segundo avión que nos dejaría en Madrid y el tercer avión a Alicante donde sería el certamen.
The costume that we used to participate was the Liqui Liqui, this is the national costume of Venezuela and on the shoulder we had the flag. Choirs from different countries such as Russia, Germany, among others, participated. It was a very beautiful and enriching experience, it was definitely worth all the effort and sacrifice we made to make this trip happen.
El traje que usamos para participar fue el Liqui Liqui, este es el traje nacional de Venezuela y en el hombro teníamos la bandera. Participaron coros de distintos países como Rusia, Alemania, entre otros. Fue una experiencia muy linda y enriquecedora, definitivamente valió la pena todo el esfuerzo y sacrificio que realizamos para que este viaje se diera.
