Although I have seen it from afar for a long time, standing out on the mountain, it was last year that I was able to go to this temple to see it up close, and a few days ago I went again with the aim of taking more pictures. I'm not a particularly religious person, I don't go to mass and all that, but I love to see new places all the time and also admire the architecture of different types of buildings.
Aunque lo he visto de lejos desde hace mucho tiempo, destacando en la montaña, fue el año pasado que pude ir a este templo para verlo de cerca, y hace pocos días volví a ir con el objetivo de hacer más fotos. No soy una persona particularmente religiosa, de ir a misa y todo eso, pero me encanta conocer lugares nuevos siempre y también admirar la arquitectura de diferentes tipos de edificaciones.
El Calvario Chapel, dedicated to Jesus Christ, is in the northern part of the city of La Victoria, Aragua state (Venezuela), in Barrio Jesús (Jesus Neighborhood), and according to historical data it was inaugurated in 1825. To get there I walked from the center and then went up a street called Candelaria, this is a mostly residential area, there are almost no stores here.
La Capilla de El Calvario, dedicada a Jesucristo, está en la parte norte de la ciudad de La Victoria, estado Aragua (Venezuela), en el Barrio Jesús, y según datos históricos se inauguró en el año 1825. Para llegar a ella caminé desde el centro y luego fui subiendo por una calle llamada Candelaria, esta es una zona más que todo residencial, no hay casi tiendas por aquí.
At the end of this street, on the left hand side, there is a small but pleasant square, formerly called Colón, but a few years ago (2015) it was restored and renamed, now it is called Cacique Guaicaipuro Square.

After climbing the stairs the ascent continues along a paved street that surrounds the hill, from there you can already see the chapel nearby.

I arrived at the chapel and my first impression was that although it is small, it is imposing, and the place where it is located is very beautiful with an incredible view of the city. I couldn't take a front view of the facade because for the celebration of the mass they had placed an awning at the entrance so that those who could not access due to space issues, could listen to the ceremony under the shade.
Llegué a la capilla y mi primera impresión fue que aunque es pequeña, es imponente, además el lugar donde está es muy bonito y con una vista increíble hacia la ciudad. No pude hacerle tomas de frente a su fachada porque por la celebración de la misa habían colocado un toldo en la entrada para que los que no pudieron acceder por cuestiones de espacio, escucharan la ceremonia bajo la sombra.

According to the chronicler of La Victoria, Germán Fleitas Núñez, there are several versions of the appearance of the image of Christ in this mountain. It is said that it was a farmer, José Hilario Urbina, who while cleaning the land where the chapel is now, found an image of Jesus on a small wooden board and there is also the story that says it was a washerwoman who found a crucifix with the image of Christ in the ravine where she was washing clothes.

Especialmente me llamó la atención una casa hecha con diferentes materiales, como cauchos, cartón, madera, láminas de zinc, entre otros, allí había un lindo perro que me saludó, creo que su dueño se dedica a recolectar y vender de todo, porque había una gran cantidad de cosas reciclables allí.
