Sanctuary of Madonna del Covolo in Crespano del Grappa

Hello, friends, I must confess that I am not a religious believer, but I do like to come to places that are particular to the faithful because they are beautiful and interesting to visit, as in the case of the Santuario Madonna del Covolo, which is located in Crespano del Grappa in the province of Vicenza.

The sanctuary is located at 600 metres above sea level on the slopes of Monte Grappa and the apparition of the Madonna took place around 1100 to a shepherdess who, during a storm, had taken refuge in a cave called Covolo and was praying.

The sanctuary we see today is the work of Canova, who built the sanctuary in 1800, but from there a small path leads to the place where the apparition of the Madonna took place.

In fine weather, it is a beautiful way to walk this trail in the midst of the peace and silence that nature itself can offer us.

Practically at the end of this path you come to the place where the apparition took place and where, according to legend, the Virgin Mary made water gush forth, water that I believe is drinkable.

In the woods above the ecco ovulo restaurant, where I stopped to eat the local specialities, you can see a "viva Maria" or "Viva la Madonna" sign, which the locals have planted in a natural way to create this sign, which you can see from afar.

To conclude this post of mine, I must tell you that it was a beautiful experience and I liked the sanctuary a lot because you can see the imprint of the great Antonio Canova there, but above all the place is well cared for and definitely worth a visit for those who come on holiday here on Monte Grappa.

I have tried in this post to introduce you to something special about Italy that many foreign tourists may not know, a very mystical place that is definitely worth a visit.
