Hello dear friends,

today unfortunately I had to go back to work, but in these days I took a lot of photos and saw very interesting places, which I can't wait to share with you. So, already today I'm going to share with you a place that I found almost by chance, while I was visiting a friend of mine who lives around Bergamo, and it's a beautiful castle, which I actually didn't even know existed.

It's the Visconti fortress of Romano di Lombardia, an important castle dating back to the thirteenth century and was expanded over the centuries by the Visconti and Colleoni families.

You know well how much I love villages but actually also castles, and I must say that traveling for my job I have seen quite a few around Italy, and this one is very fascinating because it has the classic configuration with four towers, the inner courtyard, and the drawbridge.

You can see from the photos that this castle has practically been recently restored, and unfortunately I was a bit in a hurry so I didn't have the chance to visit the inside, but actually from the signs I read outside the castle, inside there is a museum that houses a rich collection of weapons, but not only things that belong to the Middle Ages but also some items that belong to the last two world wars that Italy has experienced.
So I recommend you to visit it if you pass by this area, also because the entrance fee is really low, we're talking about €3.50 and in my opinion it's a bargain, also from what I understood you can walk on the walkways used by the castle guards which have been completely restored, this can also be a fascinating experience, by the way I did it today also in other castles.

I hope you liked the photos I shared here with you, and they somehow encouraged you to visit this place. See you at the next post which will most likely be about Tuscany, because let's say that most of my vacation week I spent there, so stay tuned and see you next time!!
