Visit to Atomium, Brussels, Belgium

Hello everyone.
Some time back while weather is still nice we went to the Germany. Visited some places and decided to go to Belgium. First we visited Atomium.
It was my first time in Belgium.
Atomium is landmark of the Brussels. It is 102 meter in height. It has 9 spheres with18 meters diameter. The Atomium was built as the main pavilion and icon of the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo 1958). (per wikipedia)

Location of the Atomium is very beautiful.
From one side you can see forest and greenery and on other sides city and surrounding buildings.
It was really nice place to visit and if you are in Brussels you should visit Atomium.

From the distance Atomium does not look that big and high. But as we approached closer it is getting bigger and higher. When you come really close than you can understand its height. Also after you go to the highest sphere you see it better.
After all it is 102 meters in height - something like 25-30 floor building. Its shape does not show it.

This is photo from the back side.

From the under it is such nice view. Sphere and the sky.

You can see connections between spheres.

Spheres reflect their surroundings.

This is entrance to the building.

Sphere are connected to each other. Vertical communication between sphere is stairs and escalators. Details of the stairs are interesting. I think they connect outside and inside of the building.

In the first sphere there is exhibition about atomium and some other building as I remember. There are sketches and models about the building.

Atomium and its surrounding.

Sketch of the Atomium. Atomium was designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn and the architects André and Jean Polak. ( wikipedia).

This sketch is quite good. You can see two people sitting on the top of the Atomium and enjoying food and drinks maybe.

Atomium is so much like this sketch.

More drawings.

The Atomium and its characteristics.

Exhibition.

Stairs to the one of the spheres.
Not all spheres are open for the visitors.

In this sphere it was some kind of light show. Light colors and tone were changing and it was dark. Escalator to this sphere was also changing lights while it was going to the sphere.

More stairs. It looks like submarine stairs. As I remember this part was not open to the tourists.

On this level there was exhibition space. Some of the sphere are used for the exhibitions.

I think exhibition was about gardens on the terraces. Different languages were available on each screen.

Now time for the view from the sphere. Here you can see and feel how the Atomium is tall. You see Brussels landscape around Atomium.

View from here is really beautiful.

Going down.

I though that this was end of the tour but then after you go the beggining there is elevator to the highest sphere.

In 1958 this elevator was fastest elevator in Europe with speed of 5m/s. And it was pretty fast. Very different feeling going up.

When you think that you saw enough then there is this view. Brussel and Atomium.
Very beautiful view.

More numbers.

On the entrace there is this photo. It is such powerful photo. Worker is carrying material to the building site. You can see people working on the sphere as well.
Very well captured photo.

Outside of the building. Interesting shape with mirrors.

Time to go.

Atomium was worth visiting. If you are in Belgium and Brussels do not hesitate to visit here.
