My adventure at Capitancillo Island, City of Bogo, Cebu. Philippines.

The islet got its name, so the story goes, from a famous American Navy captain named Cillo, who beached his ship on his way to this remote yet refreshing islet during World War II.

Capitancillo Island is a small coral island near Bogo, Cebu, Philippines. With three dive spots and a lighthouse, the island is a protected marine sanctuary.

And here's our journey:

The day before the adventure happened, we arrived in Bogo City, Cebu (the northern part of Cebu). We looked for a place to have dinner. And we were able to find one at Barbeque Plaza near the Pantalan (port). After having dinner, we found our one friend, Reyjan. Having a good time at one of the chill spots at Pantalan. He invited us to have a drink until we were drunk. Good thing I was able to return to our rented homestay that night. Our call time for tomorrow night was 6 a.m. because we were going to the wet market to buy some groceries to brighten Capitancillo Island. After such, we hire a pedicab or motorcycle with a sidecar to send us to our jump-off at Brgy. Siocon. When we got there, we saw Reyjan drinking again. πŸ˜‚

When you get there, you can see the stunning view of the crystal-clear blue water with tiny white sands. The genuine beauty of the islet can be found when you venture off the waves and into the City of Bogo's beloved marine sanctuary. This gives the tourists a more meaningful snorkeling and diving experience.

Our location for today. It shields us from the sun's heat because of the Talisay trees shade. It’s the spot where we did all the cooking for the food for our lunch.

The nice sea view and the tranquil waters. Those calm seas make you want to take a deep dive. The coral was so nice. Sorry, but I don't have a photo of it, but I can tell you it was really nice. Those big corals.

How do I get there?
Capitancillo Island is located on the northeastern coast of Cebu Province, just about 116 kilometers from Cebu City.

You may just take a bus to Bogo City, which will take around three hours, from the North Bus Terminal, which is close to SM City Cebu. Just be sure to get off at Bogo Proper. Once you arrive, you need to take a pedicab to the Brgy. Siocon for less than half an hour. Your trip to Capitancillo Island will then commence from this drop-off location and take approximately 45 minutes via boat.

One of the best-kept secrets in Bogo City is Capitancillo Island. Help preserve the island. Honor the environment and treat others with dignity. Don't leave any trace. You take back with you whatever you bring to the island.
