Trip to Mogarraz, faces of a town [Eng][Esp]

Good day community

In the valleys and mountains of the south of the province of Salamanca, from the area of the "Natural Park of Las Batuecas" and connected by the so-called water path with La Alberca, is the town of Mogarraz. This region and area is largely unknown but full of natural charm, forests, swamps, streams, mountains that are part of a complex that houses several provinces and unites them, not only geographically by natural and human aspects, but also by uniting them. The trip to this area by road is long and complicated since you have to travel on narrow and winding local and regional roads. For my way of driving I like this type of challenge as well as allowing me to make many stops where I can observe and see the environment. Here in the area of Mogarraz and Las Batuecas there are many areas with viewpoints that are a reason to stop and make small stops until reaching the destination. The views are of great natural force, chestnut, oak, pine and near the towns the fruit trees, cherry and olive trees. When I was driving along the road, suddenly, entering a town almost through it, gives the sensation of not having left nature due to the mimicry of these populations in the region.

Por los valles y sierras del sur de la provincia de Salamanca, desde la zona del parque "Natural de las Batuecas" y comunicado por el llamado camino de las aguas con La Alberca, se encuentra el pueblo de Mogarraz. Esta región y área es una gran desconocida pero llena de encanto natural, bosques, pantanos, arroyos, sierras que forman parte de conjunto que alberga varias provincias y las une, no solo geográficamente por aspectos naturales y humanos, sino que también las hermana. El viaje a esta zona por carretera es largo y complicado ya que hay que transitar por carreteras locales y comarcales estrechas y sinuosas. Para mi manera de conducir me gusta este tipo de retos además de permitirme hacer muchas paradas donde poder observar y ver ese entorno. Aquí en la zona de Mogarraz y Las Batuecas hay muchas zonas de miradores que son motivo para parar e ir haciendo pequeñas escalas hasta llegar al destino. Las vistas son de una gran fuerza natural, castaño, encinas, pinos y cercanos a las poblaciones los frutales, cerezos y olivos. Cuando iba por la carretera, de forma repentina, la entrada en un pueblo casi atravesándolo produce la sensación de no haber salido de la naturaleza por el mimetismo de estas poblaciones en la región.

Mogarraz immediately envelops us as we enter its streets and its residents and their families have welcomed us for some years, maintaining its legacy and spirit from the facades of their houses. These stone streets worn by the passage of time and the fusion of its architecture with wood make the town blend perfectly with its natural surroundings and make me feel part of this union welcoming me between streets and squares. When I walk I could not stop seeing those faces that looked at me and kept memory, many are no longer with us, but others are, of its legacy in a very artistic and pioneering way of understanding its existence as a town. You can also see different styles in its drawings and paintings since it has been different artists and in different times those who make this type of work. On the other hand, I thought of many of the drawings and paintings of "urban art" that I have seen on my travels and how in this small town they carried it as a flag when it had not yet blossomed in many other places.

Mogarraz nos envuelve inmediatamente al entrar por sus calles y sus vecinos y sus familias nos reciben desde hace algunos años manteniendo su legado y su espíritu desde las fachadas de sus casas. Esas calles de piedra desgastadas por el paso del tiempo y la fusión de su arquitectura con la madera hace que la villa se funda perfectamente con su entrono natural y me hace sentir parte se esta unión acogiéndome entre calles y plaza. Cuando camina no podía dejar de ver aquellos rostros que me miraban y que guardaban memoria, muchos ya no están entre nosotros, pero otros sí, de su legado de una forma muy artística y pionera de entender su existencia como pueblo. Se pueden observar además diferentes estilos en sus dibujos y pinturas ya que han sido diferentes artistas y en épocas distintas las que confeccionan este tipo de trabajos. Por otro pensé en muchas de los dibujos y pinturas de “arte urbano” que he visto en mis viajes y como en este pequeño pueblo lo llevaban como bandera cuando aún no había eclosionado en otros muchos sitios.

They call it “the town of faces” although the feeling that it left me when I walked was that of “the town of neighbours who watch you and greet you”. Some portraits reflect the moment of those people, some with their gaze lost, pensive about their things. Others, however, look at you directly as if they were looking out of the window and seeing you pass by. I continued walking until I reached the oval main square very close to the parish church. I could also see the small chapel that one finds in its streets and that is close to the Fuente del Humilladero.

Le dicen “el pueblo de las caras” aunque la sensación que me dejaba cuando camina era la de “el pueblo de los vecinos que te observan y saludan”. Algunos retratos reflejan el momento de esas personas, algunos con la vista perdida, pensativos en sus cosas. Otros en cambio te miran directamente como si asomados a la ventana te vieran pasar. Seguí callejeando hasta llegar a la ovalada plaza mayor muy cercana a la iglesia parroquial. También pude ver la pequeña ermita que uno se encuentra es sus calles y que está cercana a la Fuente del Humilladero.

In this series through the autonomous community of Castilla y León, the town of Mogarraz has been the main destination of this mission in the south of the province of Salamanca. Today I share this experience with all of you in the #worldmappin project in which I participate, leaving a record of my experience on the world map. En esta serie por la comunidad autónoma de Castilla y León la población de Mogarraz ha sido el principal destino que tenia esta misión al sur de la provincia de Salamanca.
