Today I am going to talk about the well of Aines, a very particular place and now you will see why.
Coming back from my trip to Burgos, which I talked about in my first post, when there was just under an hour to get home, my boyfriend told me to make a last stop to show me a very deep natural well which was very peculiar.
I was really tired and I wanted to arrive home, but I thought that since it was still daylight we could take advantage of it and that's how I saw it since he had told me several times.
We stopped in an area near the Moncayo, which is a fairly high mountain in the province of Zaragoza. Upon arrival what you can see is a fairly arid terrain due to the cold and the altitude.

Hoy voy a hablar del pozo de Aines, un sitio muy particular y ahora veréis porqué.
Volviendo de mi viaje de Burgos, del que hablé en mi primer post, cuando quedaba poco menos de una hora para llegar a casa, mi novio me dijo de hacer una última parada para enseñarme un pozo natural muy profundo y que era muy peculiar.
Yo estaba realmente cansada y con ganas de llegar a casa, pero pensé que ya que aun era de día podíamos aprovechar y así lo veía ya que me lo había dicho varías veces.
Paramos en una zona cerca del Moncayo, que es un monte bastante alto en la provincia de Zaragoza. Nada más llegar lo que se puede ver es un terreno bastante árido debido al frio y a la altura.
After walking a few minutes through a field of olive trees with tables for picnic, we reached an area with a wooden fence in a circular shape and the first thing you see is a fairly large hole through which protrude some climbing plants, If I'm honest I did not imagine it was so deep, neither so wide.
Tras caminar unos minutos por un campo de olivos con mesas para merendar, llegamos a una zona con una valla de madera en forma circular y lo primero que se ve es un hueco bastante grande por el que sobresalen algunas plantas trepadoras, Si soy sincera no imaginaba que fuera tan profundo, ni tan ancho.
Once we went around the well we reached a part where there was a hole shaped like a door in the ground with stairs and lights to access the inside of the well.
Una vez rodeamos el pozo llegamos a una parte donde había un agujero con forma de puerta en la tierra con escaleras y luces para poder acceder a la parte interior del pozo.
When we went down we arrived at a very small instance made inside the earth, where there was a closed door to the right through which you could go down even further but as you can see you could not go through nor can you see much.
Cuando bajamos llegamos a una instancia muy pequeña hecha dentro de la tierra, donde había a la derecha una puerta cerrada por la que se podía descender más aún pero como podéis ver no se podía pasar ni se ve mucho.
In front there was a metal platform with bars to see the well from the inside. The truth is that the change was very drastic, as you could see a very green flora, many vines and below all as a small lagoon. It really felt like looking down into a little jungle.
En frente había una plataforma de metal con unos barrotes para poder ver el pozo desde dentro. La verdad es que el cambio era muy drástico, ya que se veía una flora muy verde, muchas enredaderas y abajo del todo como una pequeña laguna. Realmente al mirar hacia abajo parecía que se miraba a una mini selva.
As I approached the platform I took some pictures through the bars very carefully because I was very afraid of dropping my cell phone and as there was not much space there were not many angles from which to take pictures.
Al acercarme a la plataforma hice unas fotos a través de los barrotes con mucho cuidado porque tenía mucho miedo de que se me cayera el móvil y como no había mucho espacio tampoco había muchos ángulos desde donde poder hacer fotos.
There was also a button that, when pressed, turned on some lights on the platform and played a 10 minutes long voice-over that explained a bit about the history of the well and some legends that are told.
The truth is that I was very tired and I don't remember much of it. Between what my boyfriend told me and what I remember of the locution, the peculiarity of this well, is that it was made naturally because of groundwater and its name comes from an Arabic word that meant fountain or something like that.
But what is really curious about this well is that there is much more humidity compared to the upper part and a slightly higher temperature. This makes that there is a vegetation that is not at all typical since it resembles a tropical vegetation and that as you have seen before is an area of arid and cold olive trees and could not subsist outside the well.
También había un botón que al apretarlo se encendían unas luces en la plataforma y se reproducía una locución de unos 10 minutos que explicaba un poco sobre la historia del pozo y alguna leyenda que se cuenta.
La verdad es que estaba muy cansada y no recuerdo mucho pero bueno. Entre lo que me contó mi novio y lo que recuerdo de la locución, lo peculiar de este pozo, es que se hizo de forma natural a causa de las aguas subterráneas y su nombre proviene de una palabra árabe que significaba manantial o algo así.
Pero lo realmente curioso de este pozo es que hay mucha más humedad comparada a la parte de arriba y una temperatura un poco más alta. Esto hace que haya una vegetación que no es nada típica ya que se asemeja a una vegetación tropical y que como habéis visto antes se encuentra una zona de olivos árida y fría y no podría subsistir fuera del pozo.
On the way up we noticed the change in temperature and that it was getting dark, so we were lucky to see a very nice sunset with purple and pinkish tones, which made this arid area a place where it was worth spending a little cold and even better if it is with good company as was my case.

Al subir se notaba el cambio de temperatura y que ya se estaba haciendo de noche, por lo que tuvimos la suerte de ver un atardecer muy bonito con tonalidades moradas y rosáceas, que hacía de esa zona árida un sitio en el que merecía la pena pasar un poco de frío y mejor aún si es con buena compañía como era mi caso.

I hope you found interesting this peculiar place, because, although it may seem something simple if you think well is something very rare, and well everything has its charm, for me it was a good ending to our trip.
Espero os haya parecido interesante este lugar tan peculiar, ya que, aunque puede parecer algo simple si se piensa bien es algo muy raro, y bueno todo tiene su encanto, para mí fue un buen broche para nuestro viaje.
