Hello everyone, During my vacation in the Azores, I made the most of each day to discover the wonders that this region has to offer. One of the most special and memorable stops was at Miradouro da Ponta do Arnel, located on the island of São Miguel. After a few days of exploring other areas of the island, I finally decided to stop here and take some time to just enjoy the view. The untouched nature that surrounds the viewpoint makes it a perfect place to disconnect from the rush of everyday life and simply enjoy the moment.
One of the first things that caught my attention, besides the view, was the tranquility of the place. There weren't many people there, which gave me the opportunity to observe the landscape without rushing. I took several photos (I couldn't resist capturing the beauty of the place!), but I also made a point of keeping some moments for myself, without cameras or cell phones.
The vegetation around the viewpoint is also something that deserves to be highlighted. In early spring, the purple flowers that surround the place are in full bloom, creating a stunning contrast with the green of the mountains and the blue of the sea. Even though it is a relatively popular place among tourists, nature seems intact, as if time had stopped there. The fields are green and lush, and the view stretches across miles of endless ocean with indescribable beauty.
The Ponta do Arnel Viewpoint is not just a place of natural beauty; It is also a point of historical interest. From here, it is possible to see the famous Farol da Ponta do Arnel, the first lighthouse to be built in the AZORES, dating back to 1876. Located on a hillside at an entrance, the lighthouse has been, over the years, an essential reference for navigators passing through through this area.
The road that leads to the lighthouse is quite steep, and requires great care when descending. I ventured to go down there, and I admit that it was more difficult than I imagined. The descent was peaceful, but the climb back took a huge toll! Even so, the experience is worth every effort, as the view and proximity to the lighthouse make the walk worth it.
With its traditional architecture and the imposing backdrop of the Atlantic behind, the Ponta do Arnel Lighthouse is a key part of the landscape. It represents not so much the maritime importance of this region, but also its past linked to the sea and the long journeys that Portuguese navigators made.
For the more adventurous, I recommend going on foot, but be prepared for the challenging walk on the way back! Many choose to go down by car, but the road is so steep that, for me, walking was the best choice - despite being tiring!

Arrive early or late in the day: The best time to visit the viewpoint is early in the morning or late afternoon. At these times, there are fewer tourists, and you can enjoy the tranquility of the place. Furthermore, the colors of the sunrise or sunset over the sea are simply magical.
Bring comfortable shoes: Although it is not necessary to take long walks to reach the viewpoint, the terrain around it can be a little uneven. A good pair of sneakers is enough to ensure you move with ease and comfort.
Don't forget your camera: This is, without a doubt, one of those places where you'll want to take lots of photos. Every angle offers a different and equally impressive view. However, remember to also take some time to just observe and enjoy without the pressure of photographing everything.
Prepare for the breeze: Even on sunny days, the breeze from the sea can be a little cool. Bring a light jacket, especially if you go at the end of the day, when temperatures start to drop.
Explore the surroundings: Ponta do Arnel is just one of the many viewpoints that the island of São Miguel has to offer. If you have time, it's worth exploring other viewpoints nearby, such as Miradouro de Santa Iria or Miradouro da Vista do Rei, each with its own unique characteristics.
One of the things that fascinated me most during this visit was the deep connection that the island of São Miguel has with the sea. Since the days of great navigation, the ocean has been an essential part of life in the Azores, and this is still very visible today. There is a feeling of timelessness in that place, as if the world stopped for a few moments, allowing us to just appreciate what is in front of us.

Olá a todos, Durante as minhas férias nos Açores aproveitei cada dia para descobrir as maravilhas que esta região tem para oferecer. Uma das paragens mais especiais e memoráveis foi no Miradouro da Ponta do Arnel, situado na ilha de São Miguel. Este miradouro, além de ser um dos locais mais visitados da ilha, proporciona uma vista absolutamente deslumbrante sobre o Oceano Atlântico. O verde intenso da serra e o azul profundo do mar criam uma paisagem deslumbrante, algo que fica gravado na minha memória.
Ao chegar ao local fui imediatamente recebido pela calma e serenidade que o local transmite. O som suave das ondas batendo nas rochas abaixo e a leve brisa que soprava do mar me deram uma imensa sensação de paz. Depois de alguns dias explorando outras áreas da ilha, finalmente decidi parar por aqui e tirar um tempo apenas para apreciar a vista. A natureza intocada que rodeia o miradouro torna-o num local perfeito para se desligar da correria do quotidiano e simplesmente desfrutar do momento.
Uma das primeiras coisas que me chamou a atenção, além da vista, foi a tranquilidade do local. Não havia muita gente ali, o que me deu a oportunidade de observar a paisagem sem pressa. Tirei diversas fotos (não resisti em capturar a beleza do lugar!), mas também fiz questão de guardar alguns momentos para mim, sem câmeras ou celulares.
A vegetação em redor do miradouro também é algo que merece destaque. No início da primavera, as flores roxas que rodeiam o local estão em plena floração, criando um contraste deslumbrante com o verde das montanhas e o azul do mar. Mesmo sendo um local relativamente frequentado por turistas, a natureza parece intacta, como se o tempo tivesse parado ali. Os campos são verdes e exuberantes, e a vista se estende por quilômetros de oceano sem fim com uma beleza indescritível.
O Miradouro da Ponta do Arnel não é apenas um local de beleza natural; É também um ponto de interesse histórico. Para os mais aventureiros, recomendo ir a pé, mas prepare-se para a caminhada desafiadora na volta! Muitos optam por descer de carro, mas a estrada é tão íngreme que, para mim, caminhar foi a melhor escolha - apesar de cansativo!

Traga calçados confortáveis: Embora não seja necessário fazer longas caminhadas para chegar ao mirante, o terreno ao seu redor pode ser um pouco irregular. Um bom par de tênis é suficiente para garantir que você se mova com facilidade e conforto.
Não se esqueça da sua máquina fotográfica: Este é, sem dúvida, um daqueles locais onde vai querer tirar muitas fotografias. Cada ângulo oferece uma visão diferente e igualmente impressionante. Porém, lembre-se também de reservar um tempo apenas para observar e curtir sem a pressão de fotografar tudo.
Prepare-se para a brisa: Mesmo em dias de sol, a brisa marítima pode ser um pouco fresca. Leve um casaco leve, principalmente se for no final do dia, quando a temperatura começa a cair.
