Gosh - I have often experienced where guide books were wrong. Beauty and interest in a person thing indeed. Happy you made it safely to Bonampak in the taped up vehicle - despite the bumpy ride. The murals and ruins must have still been interesting to see. However I gather that you had already seen more interesting and larger one during your Mexican travel.
I hope the meal was delicious although you left nothing for the dogs. I am reminded of all the signs I saw with "perros calientes". lol
