In the last two years, visiting various places in Argentina, I have had the opportunity to see numerous mirrors of water, most of them created by man but just as beautiful as those that have been formed naturally. These water works are a great resource to prevent towns a little far from large urban centers from running out of water supply, but they also manage to decorate spaces and attract tourists like us. On this occasion we were able to see the closest dam to the town of Capilla del Monte: the El Cajón Dam, just one of the more than twelve that exist only in the province of Córdoba ❤️.
En estos últimos dos años visitando varios lugares de Argentina tuve la oportunidad de ver numerosos espejos de agua, la mayoría de ellos creados por el hombre pero igual de hermosos que aquellos que se han formado naturalmente. Estas obras hídricas son un gran recurso para evitar que los pueblos algo alejados de los grandes centros urbanos se queden sin abastecimiento de agua, pero también logran adornar los espacios y atraer a los turistas como nosotros. En esta oportunidad pudimos conocer el dique más cercano al publo de Capilla del Monte: el Dique el Cajón, tan solo uno de los más de doce que hay solo en la provincia de Córdoba ❤️.
After a morning threatened by rain and bad weather, my dad and I decided to go for a walk anyway. We got a bit wet, but only for a while because luckily the weather took pity on us and let us enjoy the day outdoors. Walking along a path suggested by the hotel owners, we were able to reach the Uritorco Pyramid, a very quiet and panoramic space where we could sit down and have our lunch. But then there was more desire to walk, so of course we continued ❤️.
Después de una mañana amenazada por la lluvia y el mal clima, mi papá y yo decidimos salir a caminar de todos modos. Nos mojamos un poco, pero solo por un rato porque por suerte el clima se apiadó de nosotros y nos dejó disfrutar el día al aire libre. Caminando por una senda sugerida por los dueños del hotel, pudimos llegar hasta la Pirámide del Uritorco, un espacio muy tranquilo y panorámico en donde pudimos sentarnos a tener nuestro almuerzo. Pero después habían más ganas de caminar, así que por supuesto continuamos ❤️.
From where we were, we could already see the great mirror of water formed by the dam. We wondered if we could go down to where the water was to cool off a bit, but they told us that it was not possible from that place, but we had to go all the way around I don't know how many kilometers. Well, we just had to settle for seeing it from above and walking a bit on top of its wall 😅.
Desde donde estábamos ya se podía ver asomándose el gran espejo de agua formado por el dique. Nos preguntábamos si podíamos bajar hasta donde estaba el agua para poder refrescarnos un poco, pero nos dijeron que desde ese lugar no era posible, sino que había que dar toda la vuelta a no sé cuantos kilómetros. Bueno, solo teníamos que conformarnos con verlo desde arriba y pasear un poco por encima de su pared 😅.
All this structure of the dam is prepared to receive visitors. In it there is a large corridor that you can walk from end to end and see both sides of the great construction. A little further on, you can continue climbing the stairs to be even higher and get a better view of the entire landscape. This dam was built for the year 1993, when I was not even born, so I am proudly younger than it ❤️.
Toda esta estructura del dique está preparada para recibir visitantes. En ella hay un gran corredor que puedes recorrer de punta a punta y ver hacia ambos lados de la gran construcción. Un poco más allá, se puede seguir subiendo escaleras para estae aún más alto y ver mejor todo el paisaje. Este dique fue contruido para el año 1993, cuando yo ni siquiera había nacido, así que soy orgullosamente más joven que él ❤️.
On one side of the dam you can of course see the large water reservoir from which the town of Capilla del Monte and its surroundings in this province are supplied. In case you don't know, a dam is built by obstructing the natural passage of a river in a large low area, forming an artificial lake, in this case, with drinking water. On the other side of the great wall, you can see how the water course continues according to what the retention pumps regulate, ending in a small channel. On both sides the landscape was wonderful, full of mountains and rocks ❤️.
A un lado del dique puede verse por supuesto el gran reservorio de agua del cual se abastece el pueblo de Capilla del Monte y sus alrededores en esta provincia. Por si no lo sabes, un dique se construye obstruyendo el paso natural de un río en un gran área baja, formando un lago artificial, en este caso, de agua potable. Del otro lado de la gran pared, se puede ver como el curso de agua continua de acuerdo a lo que las bombas de retención regulan, desembocando en un pequeño cauce. De ambos lados el paisaje era maravilloso, lleno de montañas y rocas ❤️.
I always say how much nature and all its great creations move me, but I also admire man's ability to build great and impressive things like these. And in this place, both things meet: a great landscape with a magnificent construction 40 meters high. I like to think of all the engineering work behind it, which managed to calculate everything necessary for this to work the way it does, and also, so that in addition to being functional, it is a good place to take a walk 💕.
Yo siempre digo lo mucho que me conmueve la naturaleza y todas sus grandes creaciones, pero también admiro la capacidad que tiene el hombre de contruir cosas geniales e imponentes como estas. Y en este lugar, ambas cosas se encuentran: un gran paisaje con una construcción magnífica de 40 metros de alto. Me gusta pensar en todo el trabajo de ingeniería que hay detrás, el cual logró calcular todo lo necesario para que esto funcione como lo hace, y además, para que además de ser funcional, sea un buen lugar para dar un paseo 💕.
Although I had already been to another dam in Córdoba, the San Roque Dam where my friend and I sailed, we had not had the opportunity to see the construction up close. Actually, a bridge for cars is built on the wall of the other dam, so we couldn't cross it on foot, so seeing it more closely was great. I am glad that over the years the province of Córdoba has taken care of making these gigantic constructions that manage to solve various local problems ❤️.
Si bien yo ya había estado en otro dique en Córdoba, el Dique San Roque en donde mi amiga y yo nevegamos, no habíamos tenido la oportunidad de ver la construcción tan de cerca. En realidad en la pared del otro dique está construido un puente para los autos por lo que no pudimos cruzarlo a pie, así que ver este con mayor detenimiento fue genial. Me alegra que a lo largo de los años la provincia de Córdoba se haya ocupado de hacer estas construcciones gigantes que logran solucionar varias problemáticas locales ❤️.
Even though my dad and I couldn't get to the shore of the big lake, I think seeing the scenery we saw was enough to make us happy. When we were up there we saw that there were people below, but not on the lake side, but on the small river side. And guess what? Of course we went down there: we still had enough energy to continue walking and everything was so beautiful that it was worth continuing to explore the area ❤️.
A pesar de que mi papá y yo no pudimos llegar hasta la orilla del gran lago, creo que haber visto los paisajes que vimos fue suficiente para dejarnos contentos. Cuando estábamos allí arriba vimos que había gente abajo, pero no en la parte del lago, sino en la parte del pequeño río. ¿Y adivinen qué? Por supuesto bajamos hasta allí: aún nos quedaba bastante energía para seguir caminando y todo era tan hermoso que valía la pena seguir explorando el área ❤️.
