The province of Buenos Aires has a really extensive territory compared to the other provinces of the country. With more than 185 square miles, this province has many towns and places to visit. However, the largest number of people are concentrated in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the most important urban center in the country. As we live in this province, perhaps we do not consider it to "go on a trip", with the exception of the coast with a beach in the summer, but lately I started to investigate what interesting destinations there are around here and I found Sierra de la Ventana ❤️.
La provincia de Buenos Aires tiene un territorio realmente extenso en comparación a las demás provincias del país. Con más de 300 km cuadrados, esta provincia tiene muchos pueblos y lugares para conocer. Sin embargo la mayor cantidad de gente se concentra en la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, el centro urbano de mayor importancia del país. Como nosotros vivimos en esta provincia quizás no la consideramos para "ir de viaje", a excepción de la costa con playa en el verano, pero últimamente me puse a investigar qué destinos interesantes hay por aquí y me encontré con Sierra de la Ventana ❤️.
Despite being so large, the province of Buenos Aires is mainly flat, with only two somewhat mountainous sites: Tandil, which I told you about in my first travel post here in Hive, and Sierra de La Ventana. I always like to discover new destinations, so last month I got the idea that I should go to these mountains to see what they were like 😃.
A pesar de ser tan grande, la provincia de Buenos Aires es principalmente llana, con solo dos sitios algo montañosos: Tandil, del cuál les hablé en mi primer post de viajes aquí en Hive, y Sierra de La Ventana. Siempre me gusta conocer nuevos destinos, por lo que el mes pasado se me metió la idea de que debía ir a las sierras a ver cómo eran 😃.
I had told my friend Sofia that it would be a great idea to go and explore unfamiliar territory, and as always, she joined the plan. In the first place we had planned to get there by train, but then my cousin suggested that he wanted to go somewhere so we merged ideas and ended up all of us riding in his truck with two more aunts. This was great since a private vehicle was very comfortable and we were able to make several stops before reaching our main destination in the mountains 😀.
Le había dicho a mi amiga Sofía que sería una gran idea ir y explorar territorio desconocido, y como siempre, se unió al plan. En primer lugar habíamos planeado llegar hasta allí en tren, pero luego mi primo sugirió que quería ir a algún lugar por lo que fusionamos ideas y terminamos yendo todos en su camioneta junto a dos tías más. Esto fue genial ya que un vehículo particular en muy cómodo y pudimos hacer varias paradas antes de llegar a nuestro destino principal en las sierras 😀.
In total, it took us almost 12 hours to get from home to Sierra de la Ventana. In between we made stops at Laguna de San Miguel del Monte and in the city of Azul to see the cemetery with the sculpture of Salamone and the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Rosario . We arrived somewhat exhausted, so that day we rested in the accommodation we rented and the next day early we went to tour the place.
En total, tardamos casi 12 horas en llegar desde casa hasta Sierra de la ventana. En medio hicimos paradas en la Laguna de San Miguel del Monte y en la ciudad de Azul para ver el cementerio con la escultura de Salamone y la catedral de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Llegamos algo exhaustos, por lo que ese día descansamos en el alojamiento que alquilamos y al otro día temprano fuimos a recorrer el lugar.

Luckily the day was beautiful. We took the opportunity to go for a few laps and we visited the train station. Unfortunately, this service is not currently available, so my friend and I were going to go on the train to a previous town 38 miles away and then take a bus. Luckily none of that happened and we were able to get more comfortable by car 😃.
Por suerte el día estuvo hermoso. Aprovechamos para ir a dar unas vueltas y conocimos la estación de trenes. Lamentablemente, este servicio no esta disponible actualmente, por lo que mi amiga y yo íbamos a ir en el tren hasta un pueblo anterior a 60 km y luego debíamos tomar un micro. Por suerte nada de eso sucedió y pudimos llegar más cómodas 😃.
It is tradition to go to the train station and take pictures of yourself on the tracks. As the train does not run, you can go with complete peace of mind, just being careful not to trip over the rails 😂.
Es tradición ir a la estación de trenes y tomarte fotos en las vías. Como el tren no circula, puedes ir con total tranquilidad, solo teniendo cuidado de no tropezarte con los rieles 😂.
Passing through the tracks there is a really picturesque iron tunnel. I think that with the rust produced by the passage of time, it ended up blending in with the surrounding landscape ❤️.
Al pasar por las vías hay un túnel de hierro realmente pintoresco. Pienso que con el óxido producido por el paso del tiempo terminó combinando con el paisaje de alrededor ❤️.

Crossing the tunnel you can already see the mountains in the distance. These are low rock formations compared to those that can be seen in other really mountainous provinces such as Córdoba, but the fact that they are in this province makes them really special ❤️.
Cruzando el túnel ya se pueden observar las sierras a lo lejos. Estas son formaciones rocosas bajas en comparación a las que se pueden observar en otras provincias realmente montañosas como por ejemplo Córdoba, pero el hecho de que esten en esta provincia las hace realmente especiales ❤️.
Around the train station, the whole area is made of trees and there is a small river with stones where you can sit for the day or have a lunch. There are also some shops, but the largest concentration of them is a few blocks away.
A los alrededores de la estación del tren toda la zona es de árboles y hay un pequeño río con piedras donde te puedes sentar a pasar el día o a hacer algún almuerzo. También hay algunos comercios, pero la mayor concentración de ellos está a unas cuadras de allí.
Can you see that little man in the middle of the photo? Well, he is a complete stranger who when he saw that I was taking photos he beckoned me to take one of him. I went on my way and he went back to doing what he was doing, so he could never see this picture of him. Surely he will not even imagine that it now appears on my international blog 😂.
¿Puedes ver a ese pequeño hombre que aparece en el medio de la foto? Bueno, es un completo desconocido que al ver que estaba tomando fotos me hizo señas para que le tome una a él. Yo seguí mi camino y él volvió a hacer lo que estaba haciendo, por lo que nunca pudo ver esta fotografía suya. Seguramente ni se imaginará que ahora aparece en mi blog internacional 😂.
Taking this trip was something wonderful: seeing my wish materialized is something that filled me with joy. Much of all that was possible to Hive and the freedom it gives me to take my work anywhere. I'm very grateful for that and for everyone who supports my posts on a daily basis. I'm happy ❤️.
Hacer este viaje fue algo maravilloso: ver mi deseo materializado es algo que me llenó de alegría.
