Hello, friends as you people know here in Norway we have amazing nature. Before I moved here I learned at school Norway has 6 months nights and 6 months days. and the summertime sun does not set. It is partially true. Where we live in the south we have long days or long nights. But not midnight sun. For that, we have to travel/cross the Arctic Circle and then there are 24 hours of sun, but it depends on the weather If you are lucky with the weather then every moment is delightful. if rainy cloudy, or windy then??
We were lucky with the weather and we had a road trip to explore all the beautiful places spot by spot. The main destination is the midnight sun at the nearest point and we choose the Lofotenv islands. Friends of us live there and they invite us to their place for a few days to stay and enjoy our trip under their traveling guidance. On this trip, we had a very good experience with the sun, sea, mountains, and fishing.
This journey started on 5 July and took around 3 days. My husband is only the driver, I do not have a driving license here in Norway.
While making small interesting stops, and driving for two days we arrived at Artic Circle around noon on 7 July. After taking a small rest and looking around we continued north towards Bodo. From there, we took a ferry to Lofoten.
Laksforsen waterfall in Mosjon municipality.
We stopped while here, Saltstraumen is a small strait with the strongest tidal currents in the world.
Artic circle (66° 33' north),
That camera we set the timing so can notice the sunrise at midnight. It was a cloudy day.
We got on the ferry around 1 am.
The view of Bodo from the ferry is the biggest town in this area.
At midnight on July 8, the sun was just moving horizontally above the horizon
Around 4.30 am We were close to the Lofoten area, it was cloudy but still sun was shining.
At 5 am, we arrived at Lofoten, specifically at the place called Moskenes.
This area is mainly known for fishing and drying fish for export. We could see fish drying stands with fish being dried on them.
Our friends live quite far from here, so it will take at least one more day to drive there. We were hungry, and my husband was tired after a long drive. We stopped near the beach where we could get a good view of the midnight sun. Many people were parking their vehicles and enjoying the wonderful moments.
The sun didn't set it was moving upwards from horizon level.
That is how we enjoyed to experience the midnight sun.
After this wonderful experience, We had some mountain climbing adventures that will be next post.
All photos were taken by myself and my husband @eolianpariah2.
