Las distancias a pie son muy cortas en el Gran Roque, como se le llama al cayo más poblado y donde se encuentran todos los alojamientos del parque Nacional. Así las cosas, caminamos hasta el muelle para ser conducidos en lancha hasta el cayo.
Once on land, the posada we hired in the package from the chosen operator, picked us up at the airport and drove us on foot to the facilities where we were greeted with a very popular drink in Venezuela: a refreshing papelón with lemon. Our questions were kindly answered and we prepared for an afternoon at the beach (we arrived around noon). We chose to go to a key called Francisqui, the people at the lodge prepared a cava with ice, soft drinks, and mineral water for us, as well as our lunch. Walking distances are very short in Gran Roque, as the most populated key is called and where all the lodgings of the National Park are located. So, we walked to the dock to be taken by boat to the key.

The marine trip gave us some postcard visuals, it is very difficult to take images that are out of place. Wherever you look you have a high probability of capturing beautiful photographs. El descanso mental de tantos días acumulados de trabajo comenzó de gran manera. El silencio en el cayo es proverbial y la fauna complementa el cuadro de naturaleza agreste. Como anécdota, unas lagartijas de color negro se acercaban a nuestras sillas y nos mordían de cuando en vez los pies. Por supuesto casi ni se sentía el mordisco, pero eran insistentes. Creo son muy territoriales y nos encontrábamos dentro de los límites de su espacio vital. Ya finalizando la tarde nos vinieron a buscar para regresar al Gran Roque.
The mental rest from so many accumulated days of work began in a great way. The silence in the cay is proverbial and the fauna complements the picture of wild nature. As an anecdote, some black lizards approached our chairs and bit our feet from time to time. Of course, you could hardly feel the bite, but they were insistent. I think they are very territorial and we were within the limits of their living space. Toward the end of the afternoon, they came to pick us up to return to Gran Roque.
Llegando al muelle se nos hizo la sensación de que habría atardecer espectacular y así fue. las imágenes quedan como testigo de algo inolvidable. Una cena romántica era la sorpresa que le tenía guardada a mi compañera y esposa @aventurerasbike. Botella de vino, velas y un rincón de la posada para nosotros solos. Platillos de entrada y principal con postre al final, fueron preparados por un cheff que se ha esmerado un mundo y nos regaló un recuerdo imborrable de delicias gastronómicas.
Arriving at the pier we had the feeling that there would be a spectacular sunset and so it was. the images remain as a witness of something unforgettable. A romantic dinner was the surprise I had in store for my partner and wife @aventurerasbike. Bottle of wine, candles, and a corner of the inn for us alone. Starters and main courses with dessert at the end were prepared by a chef who has taken great care and gave us an indelible memory of gastronomic delights.
Al día siguiente, desayunamos y nos fuimos a otro cayo llamado Madrisqui. Nos gustó mucho más porque no había lagartijas mordedores y éramos muy pocas personas allí. No conté más de diez, dicho esto, hemos pasado un día entero a la orilla del mar con la respectiva cava y nuestro lunch. Caminamos por todo el cayo para capturar imágenes y el sol castigó nuestra piel protegida. Aún así, quedamos enrojecidos por el astro caribeño. A la vuelta, volvimos a mirar el extraordinario atardecer. Cena exquisita y algunas cervezas, acompañaron nuestra vigilia antes de dormir.
The next day, we had breakfast and went to another cay called Madrisqui. We liked it much better because there were no biting lizards and we were very few people there. I counted no more than ten, that said, we spent a whole day at the seashore with the respective cava and our lunch. We walked all over the cay to capture images and the sun punished our protected skin. Even so, we were still reddened by the Caribbean sun. On the way back, we returned to watch the extraordinary sunset. An exquisite dinner and a few beers accompanied our vigil before going to sleep.

Pocas veces exagero las virtudes de un lugar, porque los viajes acumulados a lo largo de mi vida han hecho que muy pocos sitios me sorprendan. Pero el Parque Nacional Archipiélago Los Roques en Venezuela, puede estar tranquilamente dentro del top cinco en un ranking de lugares a incluir en una bucket list. I rarely exaggerate the virtues of a place, because the travels accumulated throughout my life have made very few places surprise me.
