Bruges: the enchanting museum city in Belgium

Hello people and pinmapplers!

We return to Belgium, we continue touring bucolic and beautiful cities as we did before, the previous post about Ghent is here but now we are going to a charming city that seems like a fairy tale setting, back in the north and rainy north of Europe.

This is Bruges, a city that becomes an open-air museum, every corner, every square, every building, every facade... everything has a unique and special charm.

As soon as we arrive we feel that calm and humid atmosphere and so amazed we walk through a beautiful park, the Minnewater Park where the funny animals welcome us.

We realize that there are curious places and small buildings that have history, like the Old Chocolate House. Because in this city there are many chocolate shops, we will have to have something sweet afterwards...

But we also find monuments, engravings, flags and much more in this charming city. And if we look up at church towers like the Church of Our Lady, more flags and much more.

Much more we are suddenly surprised by a large square that is not the best known, but very different, very modern, we discover the Tzand Square with sculptures that take us for a moment to the present, outside of that tale of the past in which we have stuck when arriving in Bruges.

But we immediately return to the past when we see a majestic tower that stands out in the entire classic urban landscape, the Belfort tower inspires us again, we return to the magical tale of another time.

Now yes, the main square, Grote Markt is the most mythical and popular square where life and the heart of the city are. Cozy and beautiful facades in a peculiar style, which accompany relevant buildings such as the Bell Tower. And very close to there we find the Town Hall with a profuse Gothic or similar style, with prominent points, red details and many flags that give even more color to that usual gray day.

Suddenly again, another corner that catches our attention on that dark day, those decorative details of the Basilica of the Holy Blood in Bruges still seem to shine brighter, another exquisite architecture.
And we finish the walk, watching those horse carriages pass by for some tourists who want to imbibe even more of that charming atmosphere that is breathed throughout the city.

And as we said before, you have to try the sweet and the most typical thing is to buy delicious chocolates in one of the many chocolate stores that are on almost every street we walk down. Our mouths water when we look in all the shop windows, and so we leave the museum city with a sweet taste in our mouths.
