Salvador Dali house/museum, Figueres

Hello, dear Hive friends, lovers of traveling and visiting interesting localities and attractions.

When I mentioned the museum in Figueres in a comment, our friend @paloma3p immediately got in touch asking if I meant the museum/building with eggs?

Yes, I was just thinking of that building... ๐Ÿ˜€
During the first visit to Barcelona, โ€‹โ€‹we had a very tight schedule and did not have time to visit that museum, so the desire to visit it remained until our next arrival in that region.

The building with the big white eggs in Figueres, the hometown of the famous eccentric artist, is now the Salvador Dali Museum.

Since it would be almost impossible in one post to present in the shortest terms what we saw that day, I will divide the story of this museum into two parts.
The first one, which refers to the exterior and what you can see without entering the interior, as well as what we have in the yard, which I will write about now, and the second, which will refer to the display in the galleries, which I will write about in some. next posts.

We had rainy weather during our tour of the museum, but the rain didn't bother us much. Before entering the building, we saw several sculptures located on the street and the plateau in front of the main entrance, and when we entered the building, at a time when it was not raining, we used some time to tour the inner courtyard.

The plateau in front of the entrance to the building is dominated by tall sculptures, which are located on tractor tires.

On the terrace above the entrance to the museum, there is a diving suit famous for the fact that Dali appeared in it at the international exhibition in London (surrealistic, what an artist he was too ๐Ÿ˜€).

When we entered the building, we immediately visited the highlight of this museum, the round inner courtyard, which is again dominated by a column made of tractor tires, with an overturned boat on top, on which an umbrella opens and closes briefly every 15 minutes.

On the ground, there is an even more famous attraction - his black Cadillac, with a strange sculpture on the hood, with an interior scene where he, Dali, is driving the love of his life, Galu, who is sitting in the back seat with her lover...
The interesting thing about this Cadillac is that it has an artificial rain system installed, which you activate by inserting 1e coins.

Beautiful sculptures on the facade, lots of windows with "Oscar" figures, as well as a large glass entrance to the closed part of the museum, give this courtyard a beautiful look, and the experience is completed when you sit on the small benches on the side and watch the people sightseeing. around the yard.

When you enter from the courtyard under the famous glass dome, there is a huge painting on the central wall. Just below the dome, which resembles the eye of an insect, there is a slab under which is the grave of a famous artist.
To the left and right from that closed courtyard, there are stairs, through which you enter the galleries on the ground floor and on the first floor.

There are magical works of art that I will write about another time, as well as several interesting installations.
In this enclosed courtyard, the biggest attraction is probably the painting of Lincoln with the nude of Dalรญ's wife Gale, which can only be seen when you get close enough to the painting. An optical illusion (which, like most of his works, is just like that, there to deceive and confuse you), which you can see with this binocular, if you insert a 20-cent coin.
If you think that it is only possible to notice this optical illusion with those binoculars, I will reassure you, you can achieve the same effect by looking at this image through the camera of your phone.

If you have not been to this museum, and you like interesting and strange sculptures and paintings, I recommend you to visit it.
You will need a minimum of 3 to 4 hours for the tour.
If you have a question (without it being too technical), you can ask me, and I will try to give you an explanation, the way I experienced this museum.

Thank you for stopping by my post and I hope you enjoyed the photos and the story I shared with you
