Who can refuse an invitation, to spend a day full of nature and outdoor recreation? I honestly can't and much less if it's with good company. My sister @karocont2011 invited me to take a walk with her and my beloved niece. We decided to go to Parque los Chorros de milla, enjoy the zoo, but we especially wanted to see the waterfalls.
Hola queridos amigos amantes de la aventura. Estoy feliz de saludarlos, espero que estén pasando una gran semana. Hoy quiero llevarlos conmigo. A disfrutar a través de mis fotos de este bello lugar que hace poco tuve la oportunidad de conocer.
¿Quién puede rechazar una invitación, a pasar un día lleno de naturaleza y recreación al aire libre? Yo sinceramente no puedo y mucho menos si es con buena compañía. Mi hermana @karocont2011 me invitó a dar un paseo con ella y mi amada sobrina. Decidimos ir al Parque los Chorros de milla, disfrutar del zoológico, pero especialmente queríamos conocer las cascadas.
We left around 8 AM and arrived at the park at 10 AM. The day was beautiful, sunny, which was perfect because in rainy weather access to the waterfalls is restricted for security reasons.
The park is located in the northern part of the city of Merida, Venezuela. It is well known for its zoo, but there are many recreational and adventure activities. Like hiking, zip-lining, and best of all, connecting with a wooded area with a spectacular climate.
Admission to the park is $3 for adults and $2 for children in high season. To get to the trail that leads to the waterfalls we must go through the zoo area, which is wonderful because you can appreciate the beauty of the animals. I really liked that they are making repairs and are expanding the whole area, so they will have a bigger space.
At the top of the park there is a small bridge with a small waterfall. Up to here you can walk without any problems. Access to the other two depends on the weather and so far I had not had the opportunity to visit them.
Salimos a eso de las 8 AM y llegamos al parque a las 10 de la mañana. El día estaba precioso, soleado, lo cual era perfecto porque en tiempos de lluvia el acceso a las cascadas es restringido por razones de seguridad.
El parque esta ubicado en la zona norte de la ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela. Es muy conocido por su zoológico, pero en el se pueden realizar diversas actividades de recreación y aventura. Como senderismo, lanzarse en tirolina y lo mejor de todo conectar con una zona boscosa con un clima espectacular.
La entrada al parque es de 3 $ para adultos y 2 $ para niños en temporada alta. Para llegar al sendero que conduce a las cascadas debemos atravesar el área del zoológico, lo que es maravilloso porque puedes apreciar la belleza de los animales. Me gustó mucho que están haciendo reparaciones y están ampliando toda esa área, así ellos tendrán un espacio más grande.
En lo más alto del parque encontramos un pequeño puente con una pequeña cascada. Hasta aquí se puede recorrer sin problemas. El acceso a las otras dos depende del clima y hasta ahora yo no había tenido la oportunidad de conocerlas.
We start climbing the stone stairs, which are quite rustic and steep. From the first step you feel that it will not be easy, as some of them are high and slippery. As we climbed we met tourists on our way back who encouraged us to continue and told us that we were very close.
Comenzamos a subir las escaleras de piedra, las cuales son bastante rústicas y empinadas. Desde el primer escalón sientes que no será fácil, ya que algunos son altos y resbalosos. Mientras subíamos nos encontrábamos turistas de regreso que nos animaban a continuar y nos decían que estábamos muy cerca.
My son was really enjoying this hike and so were we. Even though the sun was shining, it felt very cool, thanks to the kindness of the trees we found all along the way, which offered us shade.
Mi hijo estaba disfrutando un montón de esta caminata y nosotros también. A pesar de que el sol estaba resplandeciente, se sentía muy fresco, gracias a la amabilidad de los árboles que encontramos por todo el camino.
We arrived at the second waterfall. It is kind of hidden and is protected by a small wooden fence. Being here is relaxing, away from the noise, you only perceive the sound of the river, the chirping of the birds and the movement of the trees. Feeling the wind and all that freshness was revitalizing for me since the heat wave in the city had me exhausted.
Llegamos a la segunda cascada. La cual está como escondida y está protegida con una pequeña cerca de madera. Estar aquí es relajante, alejados del ruido, solo percibes el sonido del río, el trinar de los pajaritos y el movimiento de los árboles. Sentir el viento y toda esa frescura fue revitalizante para mí ya que la ola de calor en la ciudad me tenía agotada.
After a few minutes here we continued our way to the next waterfall and you realize that the hike was worth it. The place is beautiful, the first thing I did was to raise my eyes to the sky, it looked beautiful from here, it feels like you are in an open cave, as it is surrounded by big rocks and trees.
Después de unos minutos aquí seguimos nuestro camino a la siguiente cascada y te das cuenta de que la caminata ha valido la pena. El lugar es precioso, lo primero que hice fue elevar mi mirada al cielo, se veía hermoso desde aquí, se siente como si estuvieses en una cueva abierta, ya que está rodeado de grandes rocas y árboles.
The water is crystal clear, very cold and in contact with the stones you get those shades between blue and green. It is a beautiful waterfall, which holds a legend, as they say that the River Milla was formed by the tears of Tibisay India, who lost her beloved.
El agua es cristalina, muy fría y al contacto con las piedras se obtiene esas tonalidades entre azul y verde. Es una cascada hermosa, que encierra una leyenda, ya que dicen que el Rio Milla se formo producto de las lagrimas de la India Tibisay, quien perdió a su amado.
We approached the waterfall and spent some time here. My son was scared at first, but then he didn't want to get out. He played for a long time in the water, with the rocks while we enjoyed the whole environment.
Nos acercamos en la cascada y pasamos un rato aquí. Mi hijo tenía miedo al principio, pero después no se quería salir. Jugo un buen rato en el agua, con las piedras mientras nosotros disfrutamos de todo el entorno.
Afterwards we returned to the park and enjoyed some delicious strawberries and cream. They were delicious, here you find many options to eat, but the strawberries with cream are the favorite of the people. We were also offered a free sample of chicha andina, a drink made of flour and fermented pineapple, which was also delicious.
Después retornamos al parque y disfrutamos de unas ricas fresas con crema. Estaban deliciosas, aquí encuentras muchas opciones para comer, pero las fresas con crema son las favoritas de las personas. También nos ofrecieron una muestra gratis de chicha andina, una bebida a base de harina y piña fermentada, también estaba delicioso.
My son wanted to watch the ducks. But they were resting, only one came close and pleased my little one.
On the way out we enjoyed this stone fountain. We admired some nice colorful fish and of course the beautiful turtles.
Mi hijo quería observar los patos. Pero estaban descansando, solo uno se acercó y complació a mi pequeño.
En la salida disfrutamos de esta fuente de piedra. Admiramos unos bonitos peces de colores y por supuesto las bellas tortugas.
